On Steam, the new battle royale game Naraka: Bladepoint is a big success. About 160,000 players were online at the same time, battling as Asian fighters through wild skirmishes. But what is Naraka: Bladepoint really, and what makes it so good?
What is the situation on Steam? The recently launched demo of Naraka: Bladepoint has caused a stir. So it happened that just 48 hours after launch, a new record for concurrent players was set. over 160,000 players were playing at the same time. The previous record was just under 100,000 players who were online during the first demo in April 2021.
The demo runs until June 22, 2021, so there is a whole weekend ahead where even more players can take on the game and possibly drive the numbers higher.
Naraka: Bladepoint – Battle Royale with Ninjas, Swords, and Parkour
What is Naraka Bladepoint? This game is another battle royale, where this time ‘only’ 60 players fight until only one remains. Nothing new there. But Naraka: Bladepoint offers a few unique features that have not been seen or are rare in the genre:
- 7 unique classes, including swordsmen, archers, and ninjas
- Complex character editor to create your own hero
- Strong focus on melee combat with combos and counters
- Asian fantasy setting that is reminiscent of Sekiro.
- Parkour elements like wall runs and grappling hooks
Especially the grappling hook that every player can have serves as a universal tool for movement, attack, and defense. You can swing around, reach hard-to-access places, and launch surprise attacks from there. On the flip side, you can also make a good escape with it when the opponent is pressing you too hard.
All of this is well-received by players, and despite some complaints about lag, the success of the demo on Steam shows that Naraka: Bladepoint hits exactly the nerve of the community. With its new ideas and unusual melee gameplay, the game stands out from the large pool of BR games.
When is Naraka Bladepoint released? The release of the game is on August 12, 2021. However, the game is not free to play. Rather, it will cost between 19.99 and 50.99 Euros, depending on which version you want.
