Last night, the reservation of names in WoW Classic began. It was pure chaos and brought many negative emotions.
Many players stayed awake until midnight yesterday to secure up to three names for their characters in World of Warcraft Classic. However, only a few managed to fulfill this task within minutes. Numerous problems and strange error messages tested the patience of the players.
Error message drove players to despair: The lucky players who logged in right at midnight and made it to their desired server were greeted by a strange error message when trying to save. It said:
Only players who already have a character on this realm can currently create a character.
This naturally caused frustration, as players were glad to have made it on time. Moments later, however, this error message was history – someone at Blizzard must have flipped a switch.
Queues in the thousands: Those who were not logged in immediately at launch were greeted by large queues. Often, there were many thousands of players ahead in the queue, meaning players had to wait several minutes to log in. This naturally affected the patience of players who either wanted to go to bed or, with every passing second, had to assume that their beloved name had already been stolen by someone.
Streamers had no chance: Particularly large streamers like Asmongold also felt the downside of their fame. It was almost impossible for them to secure their name on their desired realm. After just a few seconds, fans (or trolls) had already secured all various spellings of the big streamers’ names.
In summary, the rush on the servers for name reservation was a complete chaos. But that somehow adds to the charm of Classic, doesn’t it? After all, nostalgia also includes hanging around in a queue for a long time. Let’s just hope it won’t be like that at release.
Did you have luck with the name reservation? Or did you give up frustrated after a few minutes?
