In Black Desert, account bans occurred due to hacks, bots, and other illegal methods. Already during the first ban wave, many things went wrong. Now more accounts have been banned, but the situation has not improved.
What happened during the second ban wave? On Saturday, March 30, the community manager Richter published an update in the forum. He announced that again 376 Black Desert accounts were banned.
This time, however, there was no information about why these accounts were permanently closed. The reason for this could also be the Shadow Arena, where players use speed and fly hacks to win the battle royale.
Richter also noted that some accounts that were unjustly affected during the first ban wave with 899 bans can now be used again.
More wrongful bans? But shortly after the update, players started speaking out again, who are either still banned or were even affected by the second wave, without having committed an infraction in their view.
On Reddit and in the forum, many players are disappointed and have been waiting for almost a week for the return of their accounts. Others mock Kakao Games, as in this meme about the ban wave process:

Black Desert loses players’ trust
The players of Black Desert are very disappointed with Kakao Games’ behavior. Some also describe that they have lost trust in the developers due to the ban waves.
This is how the first ban wave went: On March 28, Black Desert banned 899 accounts. However, many players quickly reported in the forums that they were banned unjustly.
In a follow-up, community manager Richter agreed with the players. On Saturday, some, but not all accounts were unbanned.
On the Black Desert forum, account names, backgrounds, and tickets are still being actively collected as players are not satisfied with the standard responses from the support. Those affected by the second ban wave have also spoken up there.
But not only the wrongful bans shake trust. More and more details about hackers are coming to light around the ban wave.
Many hackers at large: Some hackers are known in the Black Desert community, also because they are unapologetic about cheating.
Yet hardly any of them seem to be affected by the ban wave, despite reports from the community.
Few penalties for joint activities with hackers: Reddit user Darkblood618 shared a support ticket that imposed a 48-hour ban.
This was issued to an account that apparently knowingly collaborated in a group with a hacker. Outrage is rampant on Reddit, as even people who benefit from hackers without acting illegally are part of the problem.
As user itsaloaf writes:
I can’t believe this. Players like these make the problem worse and get away with it? With a slap on the wrist and a 48-hour ban? While hundreds of players who haven’t cheated are permanently banned? I’m disgusted by how the situation is handled.
Players demand clarity
Which bans are justified? The biggest problem with the two ban waves is that for many it is difficult to understand which bans were justified and which were not.
Currently, forums and Reddit give the impression that all players are innocent. However, since not all accounts have been reactivated, this is unlikely to be the case.
For this reason, players are demanding clarity on the matter. This includes both the numbers of reactivated accounts and the backgrounds that led to the false bans.
