In Call of Duty: Warzone, numerous players have encountered mysterious messages during matches in English or in Cyrillic letters over the past few days. What does this mean?
What messages were discovered? In recent days, many players have reported mysterious in-game pop-ups during Season 5 that appeared randomly in the Warzone during matches.
The screen temporarily distorts like a television atmospheric disturbance and then briefly flashes one of the following messages:
- Know your History
- обречены на ее повторение (Russian, stands for: are doomed to repeat it)
What do these messages mean? When combining the two messages, they yield a clear reference to the famous quote:
- Those who do not remember the past are condemned to repeat it
This quote is attributed to Winston Churchill during a speech in the Cold War. Many players, fans, and experts believe this, along with the distorted visuals, is a direct reference to Call of Duty 2020. According to leaks, it will be called Call of Duty: Black Ops – Cold War and play in the Cold War, similar to the original Black Ops .
Is there a CoD 2020 Reveal in the Warzone?
Reasons supporting a reveal in the Warzone: The messages are also the next hint for numerous experts that the reveal of Call of Duty 2020 could take place in Warzone.
For some time now, there have been numerous rumors suggesting that the new Call of Duty could be showcased using Warzone. The developers have also stated that Warzone will serve as a constant to link further CoD installments and to share news related to the CoD brand.
Additionally, more and more Easter eggs and data have been found that indicate Warzone and the new COD could be closely connected – for example:
- An Easter egg with a teddy bear and a typewriter in a Cold-War-style bunker – a reference to a scene from Black Ops.
- Voicelines for Frank Woods, an iconic character from Black Ops.
- A nuclear weapon that seems to originate from the Cold War era.
- The RC bomb car, a small remote-controlled bomb, was found in one of the Warzone bunkers. This is an iconic killstreak from Black Ops.
- The spy plane, also a killstreak from Black Ops, was discovered in Warzone’s data.
Recently, the well-known leaker ModernWarzone spoke up. He has correctly predicted various details about Warzone and Modern Warfare and now claims that the reveal of Call of Duty 2020 will take place in the Gulag area, that is, in the Warzone.
Therefore, there is good reason to believe that Activision could indeed use Warzone to present or announce the new CoD 2020 in some form. However, how exactly remains uncertain.
However, keep in mind: Most of these are unconfirmed details. So take everything with caution.
When will we know more? When exactly CoD 2020 will be officially introduced or released is currently unknown. However, it is certain that a new Call of Duty is coming in 2020. And it shouldn’t be too long before first information is released.
The frequency of Easter eggs, leaks, and potential teasers has noticeably increased recently, which some see as a signal that there will soon be more to see regarding CoD 2020.
