In Pokémon GO, trainers often complain about annoying bugs in the game. However, a mysterious development bug has occurred, fascinating the reddit community and being celebrated by players. We at MeinMMO have looked into what it’s about and show you the reactions from the trainers.
What is it about? Trainers in Pokémon GO encounter various bugs during their daily play. Whether it’s frustrating issues in raids and PvP battles or faulty visual representations, like the cool broken Shelmet that a trainer caught a few days ago, the list of bugs is long.
And the reddit user bringmethespacebar has now had such an experience and experienced a “literally” mysterious bug in the game. He shows the reddit community a screenshot of his development preview of Seel, where a very special monster was displayed to him.
Which monster is hiding behind the mysterious bug?
As seen in the reddit post by bringmethespacebar, he wanted to evolve his shiny Seel. Its first evolution is Seejong, which should normally be displayed on the right side of the preview. But instead, Pokémon GO shows him the shadow of Jirachi at that position.
What kind of Pokémon is Jirachi? Jirachi is a mysterious Pokémon from Generation 3, belonging to the Steel and Psychic types. The monster has no pre-evolution or further evolution.
Like most mysterious Pokémon, Jirachi is also not easy to obtain in Pokémon GO. You can currently only find it in the special research “A Thousand-Year Sleep”. This makes it correspondingly rare.
For this reason, the reddit community is particularly fascinated by this bug and is eagerly following to see if bringmethespacebar will get such a rare specimen.
How strong Jirachi is in Pokémon GO has been summarized in our related article:
Community Reactions
Firstly, most trainers wanted to know under the reddit post whether bringmethespacebar actually got Jirachi by triggering its evolution. Sir_Atro_Dwarvenhine writes: “Did it work by any chance?” (reddit.com).
The reddit user moodsareflaccid encourages him, among a few others, to give it a try and evolve Seel: “I mean, that’s a good deal. I would take it” (via reddit.com).
After keeping the reddit community waiting for some time, bringmethespacebar announced in the comments that it didn’t work. He writes: “It’s a bug, it evolved into a normal Seejong.” (via reddit.com).
However, some trainers celebrate this bug in the comments and make joking considerations about how this monster could have come about. They even give this supposedly new evolution of Seel entirely new names by combining the English names of Seejong (Sealeo) and Jirachi (Jirachi) (via reddit.com):
- Bucket_Lord_Jim asks: “Are mysterious Pokémon born this way? Failed evolutions?”
- Xavierjpg0909: “I didn’t know you could play Pokémon GO with the randomizer on.”
- Valuable_Ad_5178: “Jiraseal”
- Insaniac1: “Sealechi”
Even though no Jirachi eventually emerged from Seel, the trainers in the comments visibly enjoyed this mysterious development bug.
Do you find this error in the development preview as fascinating as the reddit community does? Or do you find such bugs simply annoying? And have you maybe also experienced such display errors? Feel free to share your opinion with us here on MeinMMO in the comments.
In the coming weeks, a lot is happening in Pokémon GO. We will show you which events await you in January and which are particularly worth it.
