The holidays over Christmas are nice and all, but eventually, the time for contemplation comes to an end. Which MMOs rescue you from the holiday rut?
Christmas and the holidays are approaching, and for many of you, that means the full package of contemplation and family time. These are certainly nice things that I wouldn’t want to miss. But sooner or later, I need a change from the holiday routine, and that’s where online games come in handy.
Christmas time is gamer time
I always associate beautiful gaming experiences with the Christmas season. Back in the 90s, I got my first SNES, and that’s when my gamer “career” really started.
I remember spending all the remaining holidays and Christmas break playing Zelda and Super Mario World, and the holidays were over far too quickly.

Later on, I would often receive games as Christmas gifts, and so the holidays were always clearly gamer time for me after the obligatory family events. Plus, I had time to play undisturbed since everyone else was just lazily lounging around.
When I later started earning my first money, I even treated myself to my first MMO for Christmas. It was Guild Wars 1, and I started playing it exactly on December 24th at noon. Hours later, I had stress with my family. I had completely forgotten that they wanted to celebrate Christmas with me today.
Since then, Guild Wars has always been the “Christmas MMO” for me, as the Christmas event was happening in the game at that time, and I found the capital city beautifully decorated first. To this day, I still somehow associate the game with Christmas.
