In today’s “Mein-MMO asks”, everything revolves around Destiny: Rise of Iron. More specifically, the new raid with the inviting title “Wrath of the Machine”. This goes live tonight, on September 23rd, at 7 PM. Bungie has already called for a race: The fireteam that masters the complex PvE challenge first will be able to call themselves “World First”. Bungie will be watching you play and will likely crown the winner sometime tonight. Therefore, we want to know from you: Are you already itching to get started, or are you taking it easy?
What? The raid starts today?!
The first question everyone must ask themselves is: “Am I even ready for this?” Because the recommended Light level is a proud 360. Those who have to work all day and can only dedicate a few hours in the evening to their duties as Guardians might not have had enough time since Tuesday to get close to 360.
Therefore, the raid may come a bit too soon for some to face the Wrath of the Machine well-equipped. For others, however, the recommended Light level poses no hurdle at all. They are already at the currently maximum level of 385 – and according to some user reports, even with values beyond that.
I’m just going to put my feet up
Ttime says: I think, overall, there are three ways to handle the start of the raid tonight.
- You take on the competition: Do you have a fireteam assembled with daring and high-level Guardians and think you can take on the best raiders in Destiny? Then you can start right at 7 PM and hunt the Splicers in the raid with knives between your teeth while eagerly searching for solutions to the puzzles and jumping sections. Are you thinking about becoming a raid legend?
- You go for it today, but at a slower pace: I count myself among this faction. With my group, I will poke my head into the raid tonight. But we want to take our time with it. Because to be honest: We know that we will likely not be the first to finish the raid. Some of us are still well below 360. It’s not about competition, but exploration and fun. Most likely, we won’t even complete the raid tonight. If we even get far. But that’s okay. Then we’ll just continue in the coming days. However, since we are just as curious as everyone else, we definitely want to get started today – without any prior knowledge.

- There is still time in the coming days. You can also take it easy. This weekend, you want to first increase your Light level. And then you’ll take a look at the raid at some point. Maybe you don’t even want to solve every puzzle yourself, but wait until the first guides circulate on the internet. Or you isolate yourself from the information flood and explore the raid on your own in the coming days. This is also a legitimate option.
Because at this point, a reminder: You don’t have to start the raid directly tonight. Recent history has shown that it’s not always the smartest idea to jump into new events in Destiny right at launch. Keyword: Tapir.
But now it’s your turn: Are you ready for the raid? How are you approaching the fun?
