My gaming mouse has saved my life several times in Diablo 4 – Right now it only costs 78 euros

A good equipment can indeed save your life in critical situations. MyMMO editor Benedikt Schlotmann plays Diablo 4 mainly with a gaming mouse. And he can (almost) recommend it without any reservations.

Sometimes you need to act quickly in Diablo. I have positioned myself poorly, am surrounded by enemies, and have to find a way to escape quickly. Those, like me, who enjoy playing a sorceress or a wizard, know that health points are indeed limited and you can easily meet your end.

In such situations, I am always happy that I have well adjusted my equipment to myself and my needs.

Currently, the G502 Lightspeed costs 78 Euros on Amazon thanks to Prime Day:

My G502 Lightspeed has saved my life in Diablo 4 several times

What is the advantage of the mouse? The G502 Lightspeed offers you three additional buttons in the thumb area: the sniper button and two other buttons that are located just above the thumb. I have placed two abilities on these two buttons:

  • With Blizzard, I deal a lot of damage when I lure the enemies into the area of effect of the ability.
  • With Teleportation, I can take my legs in my hands when things get dicey. And this has helped me out of tight situations countless times when I don’t lose sight of the cooldown of my abilities.
  • With the sniper button, you can briefly set the DPI level to a low value. In Diablo, I rarely use this, but much more often in Division 2 or Apex.

Theoretically, I can also use all the abilities through the keyboard, but I am actually someone who prefers playing hack and slash games like Diablo or Titan Quest with the mouse. Occasionally, I have also played with double assignments (G-Shift) and assigned healing potions to the mouse, but that quickly became chaotic. Yes, it works, but it requires a lot of self-control and precision.

MMO mice like the Naga Pro V2 by Razer (for the test) offer significantly more buttons, but in Diablo, that was generally too much for me. Moreover, the Naga Pro V2 is simply too heavy for me in the long run.

Are there any disadvantages? I use the mouse almost exclusively in palm grip and can reach all the buttons very well. With a hand size of 19 centimeters, however, I also have very large hands. Small hands, as I know from experience, cannot reach all the buttons. My partner has smaller hands, and she can barely reach the sniper button.

The Lightspeed version offers additional weights inside compared to the newer X series, which I honestly have never used. Because the weight of the mouse is already very high, even without the extra weight. The battery life is between 50 and 60 hours, which is acceptable. My Basilisk Ultimate lasts another 20 hours more.

The G502X does many things better, but is also significantly more expensive

There is already a successor: The G502X Lightspeed is the improved version and the successor of the G502 Lightspeed. On MeinMMO you can read the review of the G502X Lightspeed. Logitech has improved its old gaming mouse almost in every aspect, the battery life has significantly increased, the weight has been reduced, and mechanical switches are now used under the buttons.

The only disadvantage: The X model currently costs around 110 Euros and is therefore about 40 Euros more expensive than the predecessor model. However, if you are just looking for a really good gaming mouse for Diablo 4 or other games, then the old G502 Lightspeed is worth it when on sale, and it doesn’t have to be the new version. Currently, it is accompanying me through my dungeons in Diablo.

Are there any other alternatives? Besides Logitech, there are also more mice that I can recommend not just for Diablo 4:

  • The Kone XP from Roccat is currently available for around 60 Euros. The workmanship is good, and the mouse offers you even more buttons. The RGB lighting is also significantly more varied than that of the rather reserved G502. The wireless Air variant of the XP is, in my opinion, too expensive.
  • The Basilisk Ultimate from Razer is currently also available for between 70 and 80 Euros thanks to Prime Day. Good ergonomics are rounded off with a respectable battery life. I find the very extensive software rather annoying, but I can usually overlook it.
  • The Rival 5 from SteelSeries is also a good option if you want a lightweight and modern mouse. In a test, I compared the Rival 5 with the Logitech G502. I still prefer the G502 a bit more because SteelSeries has placed the buttons in the thumb area oddly.

And these are three tips that I can also give outside of the good G502. If you are looking for more tips and pointers about mice, then take a look here. You can find more gaming mice in the following list on MeinMMO:
