After a delay, we now know that Season 1 of MultiVersus will start on August 15. However, it won’t launch immediately with all new content. Patch notes are currently missing.
When does Season 1 start? Season 1 of MultiVersus is finally set to kick off on August 15. This start date is just under a week after the originally planned date before the season was postponed “indefinitely”.
What’s included in the season? On release day, a new Battle Pass will launch, which is expected to include 50 tiers across both a free and a paid path. There, you will likely be able to earn new cosmetics, toast, and more.
Specific patch notes for August 15 are still missing, but two new modes have already been announced to arrive during Season 1:
- Ranked: A ranked mode where you can fight for top spots in competitive matches.
- Arcade: So far, only the name is known, but you will likely face multiple AI opponents consecutively, either alone or with a friend.
The newly planned character Morty Smith, however, will only arrive on August 23. Morty will be a bruiser at expert level, which means he will likely be quite challenging to learn. His counterpart, Rick Sanchez, will appear later in the season.

Hitbox issues cause delays
The fact that Season 1 was delayed at all is due to current issues with the hit and hurt boxes of characters in MultiVersus. These terms describe the area of the character where a hit is registered and actually causes damage.
There are currently significant issues with some characters, such as Finn, whose attacks hit most opponents even though they apparently shouldn’t. The developers are working to fix this. You can find the best characters from MultiVersus in our tier list.
However, the fact that the fixes are not yet listed in the announcement for the season and that patch notes are generally lacking leaves some players in the subreddit for MultiVersus doubtful. They fear that the bug fixes might only come with Morty.
This is also the biggest criticism that fans currently have. The excitement over the announcement is great and the delay is hardly noticeable since it’s only a few days and you can play soon.
