In October 2022, just 7 months ago, 50,000 people were still playing Steam Super People. The player numbers dropped drastically, so the Early Access is now being canceled and the servers will be shut down.
What kind of game is Super People? Super People is a classic Battle Royale, but players take on the role of characters with special superpowers. There are different modes, heroes with different abilities and unfortunately quite a bit of criticism.
The developers tried to address the criticism, made many changes over time, and even took the game offline temporarily to rework it fundamentally. In December 2022, they renamed it to Super People 2.
Here you can watch the trailer for a beta test:
Many changes, but little success
What do the developers say? In a message on Steam, the team addresses the community. Even after balancing adjustments, there are too few players, so the servers are expected to be shut down in August. The Early Access will not continue.
A look at the Steam statistics of Super People 2 shows how drastically the numbers have dropped. In October 2022, there were almost 50,000 players. In November, there were only 21,000 players. And a month ago, only 755 players.

Too few players, too many bots
What led to the numbers? According to 3DJuegos, one of the “most popular” complaints was that Super People has too many hackers. Especially Battle Royale games attract hackers, as they can influence the game for numerous participants with their interference.
Moreover, Battle Royale titles require a high number of players at a time. The low player numbers worldwide necessitate servers that are too far apart. This causes some of them to have a high ping, which can lead to lags.
The missing players were attempted to be filled by the developers with bots. Not really beneficial for the fun of “real” players, thus creating a vicious cycle: Too few players, too many bots, reduced fun, few players willing to engage with Super People.
However, fans criticize something else as well.
“With the third release, everything was over.”
How does the community react? A major point of criticism is that so many changes were made that players lost interest.
They should have never taken the game offline or made larger changes compared to the original beta version from 2021. People lost all interest when they did that. If they had kept it active, the “randomness” and crafting could have established themselves with the players, and the game could have continued to gain attention, as many big streamers played it.
Instead, they took it off the market, had a failure with the second release, then completely changed the game for a third release, and that was the end of everything.

On Reddit, there are several threads in which Super People players emphasize that they had a lot of fun in the game and are sad that the servers are now being shut down.
“FriedEngineer” writes in a Subreddit: “Not surprised, but disappointed at how everything has developed. It was unique enough, and I had a good time at first.” To which “GLang_edutainment” responds, “same feeling here, I had high hopes.”
In the message on Steam, the team thanks the players for their loyalty and hopes to see them “with further improved games after the Early Access.”
Some are looking forward to every new Battle Royale title, others find:
There are only 2 types of new, successful PvP shooters and both are crap
