The action RPG “MU Legend” is currently in development. We take a first look at the game.
The colleagues at mmoculture had the opportunity to conduct an extensive interview with the developers of the game Mu Legend and were able to clarify some of the most pressing questions. We have translated and compiled the most exciting statements about the game to provide a brief overview.
What is “MU Legend” actually?
MU Legend is the direct successor to Mu Online, an action RPG that achieved great success, especially in Asia. Like Mu Legend will also be an action MMORPG, focusing on hack & slash. The game is based on Unreal Engine 3 and is expected to run acceptably on older computers while delivering beautiful graphics on newer devices, promise the developers from Webzen.
In terms of storyline, MU Legend actually takes place before its predecessor – it is a prequel. Players are sent 1000 years into the past to prevent the resurrection of Kundun, the Lord of Darkness. However, during this time travel, players lose their memory, so the task gradually returns to the characters’ minds. Fans of the first game can be pleased because well-known characters that were only briefly seen in MU Online play a central role in Legend’s storyline.
According to the creators, the development of Mu Legend is now about 60% complete, meaning there is still a mountain of work ahead. However, the trailers shown demonstrate that core features, such as the action-oriented combat system, already look promising.
What classes are there in Mu Legend?
Like many other hack & slash games, MU Legend relies on different classes. At the launch of the game, there are supposed to be four different ones: Dark Lord, Blader, War Mage, and Whisperer.
All classes are designed so that you can have a lot of fun playing solo, but certain roles may come into play for challenging group content: A Dark Lord can either deal massive damage with a two-handed sword or acquire a magical weapon that allows him to heal himself passively – thus he could serve as an acceptable tank. In general, there are said to be many ways to customize your character.
For the time after the release, work is already being done on additional classes that will be added to the game. However, details are not yet revealed.
Is Mu Legend even coming to the West?
A release in the West is not yet certain, but the developers are working to make the game enjoyable for “fans all over the world.” Until a concrete announcement is made, the situation remains uncertain – however, the chances for a release in the West are looking good.
Update on 01/19/2017: MU Legend – First German beta with release date, coming soon! – It is definitely coming to Germany, and earlier than many think.
Mu Legend has been in development since 2011 and is currently in closed beta.
