In Pokémon GO everything revolves around exploring the surroundings and the associated movement. We from MeinMMO therefore want to know from you how many kilometers you cover per week.
What role do kilometers play in Pokémon GO? Unlike most other games, Pokémon GO focuses on movement. So if you want to catch the little pocket monsters, complete raids, and hatch eggs, you have to go outside.
The developers emphasize again and again that they want to bring players together on-site in this way and that trainers should explore their surroundings. And not only that: A trainer even lost 15 kilograms with the help of the game.
Those who move a lot can also look forward to one or the other reward. Therefore, we want to know from you how many kilometers you cover per week in Pokémon GO.
How much do you walk in Pokémon GO?
For many Pokémon GO trainers, walking is a central theme. Many wish to not only be on the lookout for new monsters or hatch their eggs, but also try to secure the weekly reward. For this, some players cover 50 kilometers or even more within 7 days.
Please feel free to anonymously tell us in our survey how many kilometers you walk per week in Pokémon GO:
Where can you see the kilometers covered? You can see how many kilometers you have covered in the last days in the game. Click on your avatar and scroll down in the “YOU” tab. Below your statistics, you will find the sentence “You have walked X km this week!” followed by a Himmihbeeren graphic. If you have reached one of the reward levels, the gray berry is replaced by a green round circle with a checkmark.
How are the kilometers determined? When you play Pokémon GO and move, the game determines your location and can measure the distance covered. However, even without actively playing, the kilometers walked can be registered, provided you have activated the “Adventure Sync” feature.
This feature utilizes data from fitness apps like Google Fit with your consent, which in turn register steps based on your smartphone’s movements. This way, it is generally possible for you to collect kilometers even with the game closed. However, trainers repeatedly report problems on social networks regarding this (via reddit.com). As a result, not all data is always recorded accurately.
Why is walking in Pokémon GO worthwhile?
Hatching eggs: If you want to secure the Pokémon from your eggs, you will have no choice but to move. These can only hatch if you place them in an incubator and cover a certain distance. This can be especially interesting for Pokémon that cannot be caught in other ways, like Ignivor at the moment.
Special rewards: Those who move a lot in Pokémon GO can not only encounter many wild monsters and hatch their eggs, but also have a chance to receive a special reward.
Niantic determines every week how many kilometers you have covered in the past days. If you have walked 5 kilometers or more, you can look forward to the so-called Adventure Sync reward.
Every Monday at 09:00 AM local time, this reward is distributed. Depending on the distance covered, you will receive balls and stardust. From 25 km onwards, you can even look forward to special 5 and 10 km eggs.
A trainer even discovered a secret reward in this context.
Progress with the buddy Pokémon: And regular walking can also be worthwhile for the status of your buddy. With this, you can earn hearts by taking pictures, feeding, or playing with your buddy, which will increase the friendship level, as well as exploring your surroundings together.
This way, you earn one heart for every 2 kilometers you walk together in one day. Additionally, for a location you visit for the first time in the presence of your buddy, you earn another heart. This way, you can quickly become best buddies, which can give you a particular advantage in battle.
Moreover, your buddy Pokémon can collect valuable candies while walking, which you can later use for evolution or power-ups. The distance you need to cover for this varies depending on the monster and ranges from 1 km to 20 km. Through the gift of a Knursp, you can temporarily halve the distance.
What motivates you to walk in Pokémon GO? Are you one of the players who cover countless kilometers every week? Or are you more of a couch potato and try to play as much as possible from home? Please let us know here on MeinMMO in the comments and exchange thoughts with other trainers.
