The month of January is over and Sony has taken this as an opportunity to list the most successful games of the month for PS4 and PS5. We show you the list.
What was shown: On the PlayStation Blog, Sony spoke up and published a detailed list of the PS4 and PS5 games that had the most downloads in January.
This provides a good overview and also shows how the player base differs on PS4 and PS5.
List of the most downloaded games
This is how it looks on PS5: First, the 20 games that were downloaded most frequently on PS5. This list is applicable for Europe. Gamers from America or Asia were not considered here:
- FIFA 21
- Hitman 3
- Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War
- Assassin’s Creed Valhalla
- Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales
- Mortal Kombat 11
- Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege
- Immortals Fenyx Rising
- Demon’s Souls
- No Man’s Sky
- NBA 2K21
- WRC 9 FIA World Rally Championship
- Sackboy: A Big Adventure
- Madden NFL 21
- Dead by Daylight: Special Edition
- Borderlands 3
- Watch Dogs: Legion
- Planet Coaster: Console Edition
- Godfall
- Dirt 5
What stands out here? With FIFA 21, a game that was already released in October 2020 is in 1st place. The PlayStation exclusive Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, however, only ranks “5th.” But it must also be emphasized that it has been available since November 2020.
With Hitman 3, a game that has just recently been released, ranks 2nd. Long-standing titles like Rainbow Six Siege or Dead by Daylight also achieve top placements, although they are already several years old.
This is how it looks on PS4: The list of the most successful PS4 games differs significantly from PS5. We also show you the most downloaded games for January 2021:
- Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War
- GTA 5
- Minecraft
- FIFA 21
- The Forest
- The Crew 2
- Red Dead Redemption 2
- ARK: Survival Evolved
- Gran Turismo Sport
- Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout
- Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition
- Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint
- Gang Beasts
- Assassin’s Creed Odyssey
- Assassin’s Creed Valhalla
- Tekken 7
- eFootball PES 2021
- Marvel’s Spider-Man
- The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
- Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled
What stands out here? The list differs considerably from PS5. Here, there are significantly more older games, such as GTA 5 or ARK: Survival Evolved. Hitman 3, which is in 2nd place on PS5, does not appear here at all.
Also interesting: On PS4, the old Assassin’s Creed Odyssey was downloaded more often than its successor Valhalla.
What else was revealed? There was also a glimpse into the most successful free games on PS4 and PS5. These games are, however, summarized for both platforms. There, Rocket League is at the top. Next come CoD Warzone, Fortnite, and PES 2021 Lite. The Asian hit Genshin Impact ranks 7th.
