It is difficult to make a clear statement: Quickly, a major problem becomes clear during our research – it is difficult to make a definitive statement. This is mainly because in most titles this trade is prohibited and buyers and sellers try to keep it undiscovered. Additionally, there can be different interpretations about what was actually the most expensive.
Therefore, we want to show you not only our idea of the most expensive trade but also mention some other deals that, under different conditions, could also deserve this title. For example, there are also deals that took place through cryptocurrency or those that were worth much more than their selling price.
Furthermore, some characters are listed on certain websites for more than €8,800. However, since they apparently have not been purchased yet, they will not be mentioned here. Also, our article is solely about characters. Items, buildings, and “places” have sometimes achieved much higher values.

Rogue in WoW changes hands for €8,800 – Banned immediately
What was sold? The deal we classify as the most expensive MMORPG character sale ever occurred in 2007. It involved the rogue Zeuzo, who is certainly known to many WoW players. The Night Elf character was level 70 and thus at the highest rank achievable in 2007.
Zeuzo carried many extremely rare items that could only be obtained by completing various quests and defeating hard bosses. This included the highly sought-after Twin Blades of Azzinoth, which could be obtained by defeating Illidan Stormrage.
As reported by therichest.com, the account had to be sold at that time because its owner was experiencing financial difficulties. Zeuzo was one of the best rogues in the entire game in 2007, which is why the sale of the coveted character could command high sums.
Several sources mention $9,500, which corresponds to approximately €8,800. However, there is also a source that only mentions $9,000, which would not change the record.
How did Blizzard react? In World of Warcraft, trading accounts or items for real money is prohibited. Consequently, the operator of the MMORPG acted accordingly and banned Zeuzo’s account just a few days after the transfer. This primarily annoyed the buyer, but many players were also sad that Zeuzo could no longer be found in WoW.
Character in Pay2Earn grinder sold for €127,000
How is the amount determined? In the MMORPG and Pay2Earn grinder MIR4, you play not just for fun, but also earn a cryptocurrency. This cryptocurrency can then be exchanged for real money, at least in theory. Even though the currency is currently falling continuously, many people play the game to earn a few euros.
Or rather than exchanging the hard-earned cryptocurrency for euros, one buys a character. In this case, it was a Lancer at level 104 with a power score of 175,730. It changed hands on December 22, 2021, for 13,000 of the so-called WEMIX. At the time of the trade, that was around €127,000.
Currently, on June 8, 2022, the WEMIX stands at €3.15, which would correspond to a character value of €40,950 if the tokens were sold. However, since we cannot verify whether this WEMIX was ever converted to real money, the expensive Lancer only gets mentioned here.
How does the developer react? Not at all. In MIR4, trading characters is not only allowed, the operator even offers its own platform in the game where players can buy and offer characters for WEMIX. Thus, the deal was likely safe and profitable for both sides.
