A player owes his life to the good old The Elder Scrolls 3 – Morrowind. Because he had a physical Special Edition instead of a Steam version, the player escaped a potentially deadly bullet.
Special Editions of games are real eye-catchers and adorn the rooms of many gamers. But sometimes Special Editions do more than just look good. In a curious case, a TES: Anthology allegedly stopped a bullet that would have otherwise killed or seriously injured a player: “Morrowind” saved the player’s life.
Savior Morrowind – Bullet got stuck in collector’s box
The player and Imgur user Velorok was sitting peacefully at his PC playing the new game Prey.
Suddenly there was a bang, and a bullet broke through the wall, heading straight for Velorok! But the gamer was lucky because his anthology of The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind happened to be in the way and caught the bullet.
The bullet pierced the cardboard sleeve and gnawed its way through the internals of the box. Then it shattered the CD case of the main game, only to finally come to rest in the included add-ons. Velorok managed to escape with just a fright and a completely ruined Special Edition.
Brave Collector’s Edition will be replaced
Velorok took some photos of the damage and the bullet holes in the wall and the game after the police arrived and uploaded them to Imgur. Soon, Bethesda, the creators of Morrowind, caught wind of the story and offered to gift Velorok a new version of The Elder Scrolls Anthology.
By the way, it is unclear why someone shot at Velorok’s house, and whether it was a targeted attack, a stupid prank, or collateral damage.
