In Pokémon GO the spawn points have been changed. Most trainers seem to benefit from this. Reportedly, over 15 spawns have new appeared at trainers’ homes.
This has changed: If you log into the game now, you may notice that Pokémon suddenly appear in places where there were no monsters before. The spawn points, which are the fixed locations where Pokémon appear, have been altered.
The changes seem to have primarily brought more Pokémon overall. There are reports from trainers who previously had no Pokémon outside their door and can now suddenly catch heaps of monsters.
More Spawn Points – Just a Bug?
What trainers report: The news of the new spawn points quickly made the rounds on reddit. Many trainers shared their observations in a thread on reddit:
- trainergoki: “I suddenly have 10 new spawn points at home.”
- jimmiekaska: “I had 0 here. In the middle of nowhere (No stops or gyms within a 10-minute radius). I opened the game and suddenly have two dozen spawns.”
- tkrag: “I’m not optimistic enough to hope that this is a permanent change or at least a non-bugged update. Suddenly have 17 spawns at home instead of 0.”
- Ouryve: “Hmm. I believe I lost at least 3 spawns. I’m not impressed.”
- DefyEverything: “I’ve lost 3 spawn points at home. Why does Niantic keep doing this?”
The opinions are mixed. Especially players who had very few spawns before seem to be benefiting now. Large cluster spawns, which were removed in previous changes, seem to be appearing again.
However, there are also trainers who have lost spawn points. Not every player has benefited.
Could this just be a bug? Some trainers are still uncertain whether this was actually intended. After all, Niantic had announced the last spawn change. Now it came as a complete surprise.
The spawns have now been changed for about 12 hours and Niantic has not yet responded. If it actually happened unintentionally, one would expect a quicker reaction from Niantic.
Should the new spawns remain permanent, many trainers are likely to benefit from it during the upcoming Christmas event:
