After some leaks already provided the first information from the alpha test of Battlefield 2042, gameplay footage of the weapons and gadgets of the big multiplayer shooter is now circulating.
The leak shows: In the approximately 5-minute gameplay clip, 11 weapon models and 4 gadgets that were playable in the alpha playtest of Battlefield 2042 can be seen.
- The showcased weapon models include some old acquaintances known from conventional shooters and previous Battlefield installments.
- For example, the Vector submachine gun and the SCAR-H assault rifle are visible in the video.
- The player is on the Orbital map, which was the only playable map in the alpha, and is firing a bit.
The video was uploaded to YouTube about a week ago but was deleted shortly after. It is now circulating again on Twitter (via Twitter) and YouTube. Here you can watch the video:

What does the video reveal? Although the gameplay clip does not showcase any battles, the short showcase is enough to at least get an impression of the weapon handling, recoil, and reload speed.
In addition to the SCAR-H and the Vector, further models can be identified. The light machine gun is most likely the KAC LAMG, which has already been shown in trailers for BF2042.
The shotgun could be the Remington M870 MCS, which is also known from previous trailers.
Also interesting are the gadgets shown at the end of the video.
- One gadget functions like a kind of grappling hook that allows you to swing to elevated positions and across chasms.
- There is a kind of healing pistol that apparently fires healing arrows.
- Additionally, a stationary turret is visible that automatically targets enemies.
- Moreover, there is again a kind of remote-controlled drone.
Although the video does not show any surprises, many fans are currently eagerly awaiting new information and new gameplay for Battlefield 2042.
Actually, the alpha playtest was under strict NDA, and testers were prohibited from publishing information and footage. However, some players did not adhere to the rules and data about the Hazard Zone mode, weapons, and season information were leaked.
EA has already announced consequences and is even considering a ban upon the release of the full version of Battlefield 2042. However, there should still be an open beta starting in September. Then you can finally play for yourself and get an impression of the weapons.
When will the beta start? There is still no exact date; it could be just a few days away. A deleted blog post listed September 4 as the start of early access for the open beta.
But as of now, there is no official confirmation. Although the previously known hints also suggest the upcoming weekend, take the date with caution.
It is quite possible that no date has been set yet and that the beta will take place at a later date in September.
For which platforms will the beta be released? The test is set to be available on all platforms where Battlefield 2042 will be playable – namely PS5, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. However, last-gen consoles will have to make some compromises in terms of technology, player count, and map size.
