The German streamer and YouTuber Marcel “MontanaBlack” Eris announced his contract with the streaming platform Twitch. Where he is heading from March 1st is still unclear. Streaming on Facebook is “garbage.” He would probably prefer to stay on Twitch.
Where does the info come from? MontanaBlack visited the stream of Staiy and connected there via voice chat. Before that, he wrote in the chat that he had canceled his contract with Twitch.
Afterwards, the two talked for about 20 minutes about why MontanaBlack is taking this step and on which platform he could see his future streaming career. Already in October, MontanaBlack suspected that soon the first German streamers would leave TwitchTV.
This is the announcement: MontanaBlack says he canceled his current Twitch contract at the beginning of December, before it would have automatically been extended by another year.
The cancellation becomes valid from 1.3.2020.

MontanaBlack is the largest German Twitch streamer
Why is this special? On the livestream platform Twitch, MontanaBlack’s channel is a big deal.
- In September 2019, MontanaBlack stated that he was number 1 on Twitch in terms of subscriptions – over 35,000 people had subscribed to him at that time.
- He also reached 2nd place in the most viewed streams worldwide on Twitch.TV in September 2019.
- After his Twitch ban, he dropped out of the top 10 in October.
MontanaBlack is by far the largest German streamer.
On the platform, he reaches a large audience. As of now (December 14, 09:28 AM), he has over 2 million followers.
“I’m just quitting now because I want to see who loves me the most”
Why is the streamer leaving? In his stream, Staiy asked MontanaBlack about his reasons for quitting.
Staiy: Can you say again why … what was the deciding point for you? You must have sat down […] I’m just quitting now because …
MontanaBlack: I’m just quitting now because I want to see who loves me the most.
Afterwards, both of them laugh. MontanaBlack explains that Twitch would always remain his preferred streaming platform. Even if he hasn’t streamed on any other platforms like Mixer or YouTube so far.
Later he adds: “In today’s time, dude, where everything is so starting, when you hear ‘this and that is switching,’ you would be stupid not to at least try and see: Okay, I’m going to look at what’s going on in the market now.”
Some big names like Fortnite star Ninja and shooter god Shroud left the platform Twitch.TV. They now stream on Mixer, Microsoft’s livestreaming platform. Apparently, they received lucrative deals that provide them with a high base salary.
3 other big streamers stay on Twitch – and reportedly have been generously compensated for their “loyalty.”
Where is the journey heading? There are no concrete plans yet about which platform MontanaBlack is targeting next. Visually, Mixer would resemble Twitch the most, MontanaBlack says.
Regarding “livestreaming on Facebook,” both streamers say that you would need to be offered a high sum for that.
“No matter what number you imagine, even if you imagine 8 million and you know you’re getting 8 million … the thought, even if you get 8 million, of streaming on Facebook is just garbage,” explains MontanaBlack.
And what about YouTube? MontanaBlack says that he can watch streams on the platform well because it visually feels familiar to him. But streaming there himself is a different story, as he thinks the livestream chat is not nice there.
His contract is likely to end on March 1, 2020, on Twitch.TV. How it will continue after that will likely become clear in the coming weeks.
It seems that MontanaBlack would prefer to continue streaming on Twitch – but under better conditions.
