The most successful German streamer, MontanaBlack88, is currently dissatisfied with the situation on Twitch. After a 7-day ban, he is now talking about unequal treatment. Twitch is not responding to his emails, even though he is one of the biggest streamers in the world.
This is the current situation: MontanaBlack was banned by Twitch with a 7-day ban on Friday. He explained that he had a meltdown during a friend’s stream and was punished by Twitch for it.
Initially, the streamer seemed quite understanding and apologized for his behavior. He didn’t want any stress with Twitch.
Now, after a few days, he does not see the situation as lightly anymore. He is complaining on Twitter about unfair treatment.
Twitch punishes users very differently
This is what the streamer says: On Twitter, MontanaBlack addresses his community with “honest words” and writes that he is not averse to leaving Twitch if there were a good alternative.
He says that Twitch handles punishments very differently. For instance, a female streamer who shows her breasts only gets a 3-day ban while he gets banned for 7 days because a colleague streamed without his knowledge and he got upset there.
In the end, he alludes to a story about a female streamer who kissed her cat with alcohol on her lips. Many viewers demanded a ban, but the streamer was not punished.
In another tweet, he asks his community whether they find it fair that he, as one of the biggest streamers in the world, still has not received a response to emails sent to Twitch after 4 days.
Is this criticism justified? There is always criticism of the system behind bans on Twitch. Especially the female streamer who kissed her cat with alcohol on her lips caused a lot of confusion.
In September, the Twitch CEO tried to explain why some people are banned while other streamers can continue.
He stated that the context and intention behind the streamer’s actions are taken into account and acted upon.
In MontanaBlack’s case, however, this principle does not seem to work. After all, he asserts that he was unaware of the ongoing stream and otherwise would not have had such an outburst.
So, there is not really an intention here.
How long will MontanaBlack be banned? The streamer’s ban ends on October 25th. If Twitch does not respond to MontanaBlack’s emails by then, he will return in time for the release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.
