The Twitch streamer Marcel “MontanaBlack” Eris is now the proud father of his own energy drink and doesn’t take it lightly when it comes to his “baby.” Some content creators had to learn this the hard way.
What kind of product is this? MontanaBlack released his own energy drink, Gönrgy, in July 2023. According to his own statements, it was an absolute labor of love in which he invested 2 years and 1.5-2 million euros.
For such a big project, marketing must be diligent. The Twitch streamer made use of his influencer friends and colleagues for this purpose. He sent numerous content creators packages with varying numbers of drink cans.
However, it quickly became apparent that MontanaBlack does not take any jokes when it comes to his energy drink.
Honest feedback, but not too honest please
What was the situation? Among the lucky ones who received a sample package from MontanaBlack was also the 17-year-old Twitch streamer Fibi “Fibii” Pfeiffer. She even received a whole pallet of the energy drink.
However, the product did not completely convince the 17-year-old: After a short sniff test, Fibii stated that the smell of the drink reminded her of vomit.
This is how MontanaBlack reacts to criticism: MontanaBlack learned of Fibii’s statement and promptly confronted her: He called the 17-year-old in his stream in front of his average 21,000 viewers (via sullygnome). When the Twitch streamer tried to explain herself, he just hung up.
You can see a clip of the short conversation here:
Afterwards, MontanaBlack ranted: That was the last package that Fibii would have received from him. The 35-year-old said that this shows that the streamer is “still a child.” Apparently, he thinks she is too young to understand the “rules of the game”.
However, MontanaBlack also explained that honest feedback is certainly welcome, but it could have been expressed more diplomatically. He expects respect.
What happened next? The next day, Fibii apologized for her thoughtless remarks about Gönrgy.
MontanaBlack also issued a statement, urging his fans not to harass the Twitch streamer, but made it clear: That was pretty much the most disrespectful thing he had experienced in his many years on the internet.
Good friends give positive feedback
Is the matter settled? No. Because a similar mistake was made by the YouTuber “Gurkensohn.” He stated in his test that none of the 3 varieties of Gönrgy matched his personal taste and subsequently received a “rebuke” from MontanaBlack.
The Twitch streamer raged that Gurkensohn had begged him for days in private messages just to then speak badly about his energy drink. After all, MontanaBlack had made the YouTuber big with his reactions.
MontanaBlack receives support from the casino streamer Theo “Scurrows” Bottländer. He seems well aware that he owes his current upswing largely to MontanaBlack’s reaction streams.
On Twitter, Scurrows criticized content creators who only made “crappy” advertising and demanded: “Don’t forget where you come from.”
The Kick streamer holds the view: Those who lie about products when they are paid for it can just as well do it for their friends (via Twitter).
Others, however, praise content creators like Gurkensohn who at least dare to express their honest opinions.
That some influencers are not entirely honest when promoting a product is a thorn in the side of many:
