Dauntless (PC) is a multiplayer action game where you team up to battle massive monsters. This makes it an alternative to the console title Monster Hunter World and it will soon be available for all players to play for free in open beta.
Fans of epic monster battles have long been able to enjoy Capcom’s Monster Hunter World on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. However, the PC version of MHW won’t arrive until Fall 2018.
Fortunately, there are alternatives, such as the multiplayer action game Dauntless. The development team Phoenix Labs includes former employees from BioWare, Riot Games, and Capcom!
Open Beta for Dauntless in May
In Dauntless, you embark on adventures with your friends to fight massive monsters on floating islands. Depending on the weapon you choose, you have different skills and tactics. After defeating a beast, you can craft better items from its remains.
Dauntless will be in closed beta until May 24. After that, the open beta starts and you can play the game for free without a Founder Pack.
Founder Packs will only be available until that date. There was a lot going on in closed beta. According to the developers, over 100,000 players participated, and for the open beta, an additional 700,000 gamers are expected.
According to the developers, there will be two wipes before the open beta starts. On May 2 and May 22, the players’ progress will be reset.
Monster Hunting with a Game-as-a-Service Approach
To keep the battles against the massive monsters known as Behemoths exciting, the developers plan a continuous stream of fresh content. Dauntless aims to follow a clear “Game-as-a-Service” concept and will continually evolve.
The developers at Phoenix Labs refer to this approach as “Ever-Game” and aim to provide a vibrant, ever-evolving world.
Good to know: Dauntless offers no loot boxes as a free-to-play game and only cosmetic items in the shop for real money.
We have played Dauntless in the alpha. Here you can find out how we liked it.
