Monster Hunter World: Iceborne (MHW) has received its last title update. With it came Fatalis and its armor, which can be considered a real game-changer.
Monster Hunter World: Iceborne brought its 5th and final title update on October 1st. Among them were again some new features, such as a time-limited event with the battle-hardened Velkhana.
Additionally, all Master Rank armors are now available as decorations, allowing you to focus even more on style-hunting. However, the most brutal achievement is the armor you can obtain from the new dragon Fatalis.
Fatalis brings a grand finale
The final update brings the powerful dragon Fatalis to the ranks of monsters in Iceborne. However, first you will meet an old acquaintance – Alatreon. You must defeat him, but fortunately the battle is somewhat easier than it usually is.
Once you have defeated him, more cutscenes will follow that provide goosebumps and evoke beautiful memories of the early days. However, we don’t want to reveal too much at this point. Ultimately, you will have to defeat Fatalis.
The fight against Fatalis: As expected, Fatalis will bombard you with dangerous fire attacks. In addition, his speed means you must also be wary of his tail and claws.
When Fatalis flies, you can shoot at him with a cannon that resembles a machine gun. You also have a dragon spear at your disposal. When the dragon initiates its massive flame attack, you need to leave a gate open and take cover behind it. More about the fight and an initial assessment of the difficulty can be seen in Rurikhan’s video:
Otherwise, you can mount Fatalis by using your clutch claw and then beat him up. Your claw has also gained strength thanks to title update 5. You can now wound him more easily and longer, depending on your weapon.
Once you have defeated the dragon, you can look at the almost ridiculously powerful reward.
The Fatalis armor with nearly limitless flexibility
Here are the skills: As you are used to, you can unlock a new armor set with Fatalis. It comes again in an Alpha and a Beta version, with the former having more skills and the latter having more slots for decorations. The armor bonuses are as follows:
Fatalis α +:
- Critical Eye 3x
- Crafting 5x
- Stun Resistance 3x
- Blocking 3x
- Weakness Exploit 3x
- Invulnerability 3x
Fatalis β +:
- Critical Eye 2x
- Stun Resistance 3x
- Weakness Exploit 2x
- Invulnerability 2x
This is how the set bonuses work: The most powerful aspect is probably not the skills themselves, but the set bonuses that activate when you wear two or four pieces:
- 2 pieces – Removes the cap from all skill secrets.
- 4 pieces – Grants Sharpness/Extra Shot. Additionally, 100 Health and Stamina in every fight and after KO.
With two Fatalis pieces, you can unlock the secrets of each skill earlier and equip them at higher levels without being bound by the respective number of set pieces. This gives you unprecedented flexibility in selecting your skills.
With four pieces, depending on your weapon, your sharpness loss is reduced or you save ammunition and coatings. The 100 Health and Stamina also eliminate the need for buff food like Mega Potions or rations.
Here is how it works with the decorations: The factor that gives you the most flexibility is likely the many slots. Each piece of Fatalis β + has three slots for level 4 jewels.
That makes a total of 15 slots for the largest decorations. You can of course also fill them with smaller ones and have free choice from your collection. You can see more about the individual set pieces in Arekkz Gaming’s video:
Should everyone now have the armor? This doesn’t mean that in the future everyone will have to walk around with 5 pieces of Fatalis. Especially since the big set bonus is already available with 4 pieces. But the armor makes you incredibly flexible and opens up new avenues for your sets.
You can manage with two pieces and mix the various skill secrets as you wish. Or you take all pieces and fill them with your favorite decorations as you please.
Thus, Monster Hunter World concludes with a grand finale. However, there is even more in the update, on October 16th, a Halloween event will even come our way. This lures with even more decorative armors in which you can immediately enshroud your new Fatalis equipment.
