As many fans of Monster Hunter World might know, a film based on the popular Monster Hunter series is currently in the works, although not much is known about it yet. Two actors have now been confirmed for the cast: including Ron Perlman, the actor known for Hellboy.
With Monster Hunter World, Capcom’s popular series from Japan has finally entered the mainstream. So far, over 10 million copies have been shipped across all platforms.
A film about Monster Hunter has also been in planning for some time. Now the work is slowly taking shape.
What is currently known about the film: Around 60 million US dollars are available as a budget. The film is being shot by Paul W.S. Anderson in Cape Town. Anderson was already the director of the live-action adaptations of Resident Evil.
Ron Perlman and T.I. Harris are apparently on board
Along with Milla Jovovich, the lead actress of the Resident Evil films, who has already been confirmed as part of the cast, two more actors are now reportedly on board according to Hollywood Reporter. Ron Perlman and T.I. Harris are joining the crew.
Who is Ron Perlman? Perlman has been involved in a variety of films and series. Many of you might know Perlman from Hellboy, Pacific Rim, Sons of Anarchy, and Hand of God.
In the gaming industry, Perlman is, at least in the English-speaking world, not a stranger. He voiced several roles for the Fallout series and also provided his voice in Halo 2 and 3.
What role will he take on? In the upcoming Monster Hunter film, Perlman will likely play an admiral who leads a hunting team.
Who is T.I. Harris? Harris is primarily known as the rapper T.I., but he is also active as a film producer and actor. Recently, he appeared in films such as Ant-Man and Ant-Man and the Wasp.
What role will he take on? Harris will likely play a sniper named Link.
No one knows yet what it is about
The plot is still unknown. However, they want to remain true to the source material.
Nevertheless, fans fear that the film will flop. Many are worried about the duo Jovovich and Anderson, as the Resident Evil films did not fare well everywhere.
The budget also seems rather low to many for today’s standards. Ultimately, all that remains is to wait and see.
