A new mod for PC allows making the Scoutflies in Monster Hunter: World invisible. However, some fans are not satisfied. They want the option to completely disable this feature.
Scoutflies brought mixed reactions: The Scoutflies are a feature that appeared for the first time in the Monster Hunter universe in Monster Hunter: World. Accordingly, the reactions to it in the community were mixed. While many players found the feature really practical, old Monster Hunter veterans were particularly not enthusiastic about it.
Now a mod allows making the Scoutflies at least invisible in the PC version of MHW.

The Scoutflies annoy some players
What are the problems with the Scoutflies? Despite their useful function as support during the search for specific monsters, the Scoutflies can be quite annoying for some players.
There are various reasons for this:
- The search for monsters becomes too easy, as they just have to follow the flies and no longer really go searching
- The flies are far too bright or take up a large part of the screen
- The AI of the flies sometimes does nonsensical things, like tracking trails even though the monster is right in front of the player
- The flies draw attention to unimportant things like herbs or mushrooms
Accordingly, the new mod comes in very handy for some hunters.
Things to consider if you want to use the mod: If you are considering getting this mod, you should take some precautions beforehand. Monster Hunter World has no official mod support on Steam and the fly mod is still in a test phase. Accordingly, you should back up your saves before installation and play in offline mode.

The mod does not fix the biggest player issue
The Scoutflies control the camera: The biggest complaint from players about the Scoutfly feature is not fixed by the mod. The flies can still take control of the camera at any time. This leads to sudden shifts in perspective in a different direction in the game, which players refer to as “neck jerking” or “neck snapping” – a sudden, jarring movement of the field of view.
invisibility is not enough: The mod causes the animations of the flies to merely become invisible. You can see this in the video as the camera still automatically rotates in the direction they fly as soon as a new trail is picked up.
Already, console players wished for a Monster Hunter World without Scoutflies. On Reddit, threads have regularly appeared for months asking for the option to completely turn the Scoutflies on and off. The mod can at least fulfill this wish for PC players if it is further developed.
