Capcom has released mini-trailers showcasing new weapons, armors, and moves from the DLC of Monster Hunter World, Iceborne.
This is seen in the trailers: A total of three mini-trailers have been released, all focusing on weapons, the slinger, and the new clutch claw.
They show some scenes where the new clutch claw comes into play. Additionally, there are some new moves where weapons and the already known slinger are combined, offering new strategic options.
New Weapons, Armors, and Moves
In the released snippets, the focus is on the longsword and the hammer. Here too, you can see some new applications of the slinger in combat, as it can now be fired with drawn weapons. This was previously only possible with the sword/ shield.
This is shown in the longsword trailer:
- In addition to the already mentioned features, a new armor and weapon are also revealed.
- The armor is probably the Master Rank variant of the Odogaron armor.
- The longsword is likely a new version of the Anjanath longsword.
This is shown in the greatsword trailer:
- Also in this trailer, you can see a new armor. It does not look like the previous models. Therefore, it is likely related to one of the new monsters.
- The greatsword is also new and hard to classify. Perhaps it will be the first Diablos greatsword in the series?
Also in this video, the use of the new clutch claw can be seen, which will become an important tool for hunters.
Swing onto enemies anytime with the clutch claw
This is what the new tool can do: With the clutch claw, you can swing onto monsters. Once you are on, you perform a different attack animation depending on the weapon.
Depending on the weapon you combine with the clutch claw, your attack will also have a different effect. So at least according to the player’s translation on gematsu.com. From the Japanese Twitter posts about Iceborne, this player gathers some cool info:
- All 14 weapon categories can be combined with the clutch claw.
- These 14 are divided into two “feature” groups that have different effects when you attack with the clutch claw.
- Group 1: Monsters can be more easily wounded, offering greater chances to deal high damage.
- These weapons are included: Greatsword, Hammer, Hunting Horn, Lance, Switch Axe, Energy Blade, Heavy Bowgun
- Group 2: You are guaranteed ammunition for the slinger and also deal minor damage to the monster.
- These weapons are included: Sword/Shield, Dual Blades, Gunlance, Bow, and Light Bowgun

When will the Iceborne DLC be released? Iceborne comes on September 6. The DLC brings a completely new map (the largest one in MHW so far), new monsters, equipment, and also a new Master Rank with new challenges.
