What does Capcom say about a port of Monster Hunter World to the Switch? Apparently, many fans wish for it.
The announcement that Capcom currently has no plans to bring Monster Hunter: World to the Switch has frustrated quite a few fans of the series. Especially after the game received positive reviews in abundance from critics, the calls for a Switch port have become increasingly louder.
The development of Monster Hunter World began more than 4 years ago
As early as January 2018, just before the release, the two co-directors of the game, Kaname Fujioka and Yuya Takuda, emphasized that the development of MHW began long before the announcement of the Switch.

In an interview with the Japanese Toyo Keizai Online magazine, Capcom’s President and Chief Operating Officer Haruhiro Tsujimoto explained that a port to the Nintendo Switch would be difficult.
Capcom was wary of the limitations of handheld consoles with Monster Hunter World
Tsujimoto said that Monster Hunter World was primarily developed for home consoles and PC.

With Monster Hunter World, the development team wanted to start from scratch and fully utilize the latest technologies to meet players’ expectations. Apparently, they did not want to be limited by a handheld console.
The focus on PC and home consoles allowed Capcom to depict the realistic ecosystem of MHW; a feature that was positively received by players.
And what about the Nintendo Switch?
Capcom President Tsujimoto is aware that there is high demand for a Switch port.
After all, many Monster Hunter games have been released on Nintendo platforms in the past. There are many Monster Hunter players among Nintendo fans.

According to Tsujimoto, this was the reason to bring Monster Hunter XX to the Switch.
However, it would be “difficult to port Monster Hunter World to the Switch due to various conditions.” Nintendo’s latest creation differs both in its features and fanbase from home consoles.

Each console has its own characteristics. Tsujimoto believes that Capcom should specifically adapt the software of their games to these characteristics.
Whether and how the company can bring its franchises and Monster Hunter to the Switch is still being closely examined. But it sounds like this would affect future games in the Monster Hunter series and not Monster Hunter World.
Currently, the game has only been released for PS4 and Xbox One, and a PC release is planned for Fall 2018.
