What kind of update is this? Monster Hunter World has announced the 4th title update for July 9. It was originally supposed to come in May and will be freely accessible on all platforms: PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
Included will be an old fan favorite, a new monster variant, and a whole new event that will bring a lot of colorful fun to Monster Hunter World.
Today the developers streamed a diary (Dev Diary 6) live on their YouTube channel and revealed more details about the upcoming update. We from MeinMMO do not want to withhold that from you and have summarized the highlights for you. You can watch the complete video here:
Alatreon finds its way to Iceborne
The major highlight of the developer diary was undoubtedly Alatreon. The black dragon is already known from Monster Hunter Tri and will be introduced as a new monster with the update to Iceborne.
What will the fight look like? The developers revealed a bit more about the fight against Alatreon. It will be able to switch its elements, specifically between fire, dragon, and ice. In doing so, it will unleash a powerful shockwave.
You can prevent this by attacking with elemental attacks and breaking its parts. Otherwise, it’s important to support each other with healing potions and more.
In general, according to the developers, you should coordinate with your teammates in this fight. Due to Alatreon’s switching between elements, you should have various elements ready. Or you should come up with entirely different strategies.
And what about the gear? Alatreon’s equipment is also very much related to elements. The elemental damage on your weapon will be amplified by your elemental resistance on the armor.
Aesthetically, it is designed after the dragon’s scales. Its weapons will also have a glowing effect.
A new variant of Barioth awaits you
What other monster is included? The new update also features another monster, the “Frostfang Barioth”. It is a variant of the agile Barioth, one of the monsters from Iceborne that have been there from the beginning.
The already icy mate will become even icier here. It will gain an ice breath, making it reminiscent of the dragon Velkhana.
Its armor is heavier than that of the normal Barioth. If you obtain the 3-piece set bonus of the armor, you will gain a stun effect, even if your weapon does not have one.
Samba! A summer event
A new event is also on the horizon starting July 22. The “Sizzling Spice Fest” brings samba vibes to Monster Hunter World. Everything is wrapped in colorful costumes, and the pig Poogie is not left out again.
As usual, there will also be some headpieces and skins waiting for you. As well as extremely funny weapons. During the event, you can craft a Kelbi and Aptonoth head. Additionally, you can soon literally cheer the monsters to death with beer mug dual blades.
Roadmap – more is coming
In addition, smaller updates were also presented. There will be some new skins available for purchase, and the melding pot will receive a new feature.
What is new with the melding pot? If you have trouble catching certain monsters in the “Guiding Lands” endgame area, the update also has a trick up its sleeve. With the melding pot, you will soon be able to melt down items to summon certain monsters in the Guiding Lands.
In the end, the developers also provided another outlook. Via roadmap, details about the 5th major title update in autumn were revealed, along with more information about the dates of the 4th update.
We can be curious about what surprises Monster Hunter World will still have in store for us this year and whether the developers will manage to keep their players engaged. The 4th title update is certainly packed with great stuff.
