Monster Hunter World: Iceborne is getting its first title update tomorrow, October 10th. The new content includes a brand new monster along with armor sets and an improved “Layered Armor” system.
This is included in the update: The developers of Monster Hunter World have briefly introduced the new features in a video that will be available to you tomorrow, October 10th. The highlights of the update include:
- Social features – You can visit your friends’ rooms
- The new monster Rajang can be hunted and its armor and weapon crafted
- A new biome in the Guiding Lands will be accessible
- New “Layered Armor” that you can craft yourself
- More tempered monsters
Especially the revamped “Layered Armor” system makes it easier for you to customize your hunter. You can now look however you want – with some restrictions.
1. Title Update for Iceborne – “Transmog” and Rajang in Detail
Here’s how the “Layered Armor” is changing: With the new update, you can craft “Layered Armor” directly in the forge in Iceborne. The system allows you to wear a cosmetic armor without stats over your actual armor.
The “Layered Armor” does not overwrite the stats of the armor you have equipped but essentially provides it with a skin, similar to transmog. Until now, such skins were mostly limited to events like Assassin’s Creed or linked to tough challenges like for Final Fantasy XIV.
The new system allows you to craft armor from old parts as well. To do this, you only need to gather the required materials from the Guiding Lands to craft the armor. While the appearance isn’t fully customizable yet, it’s at least a good bit more.
This is Rajang: Rajang is the new monster in Iceborne and should already be familiar to many fans of the series from Monster Hunter 2. He is considered an extremely tough opponent and many fans are already looking forward to being beaten up by him.
Rajang can be found in a volcanic region of the Guiding Lands. To unlock this, you first need to accept the special quests that are also introduced with the update. The ape-like giant hits pretty hard and even has a sort of Super Saiyan mode.
Rajang is expected to be a tough challenge even for veterans. However, once you defeat him, his armor and weapons will be available as rewards for crafting. The armor is said to favor offensive playstyles and will harmonize with the weapons.

Additionally, you will be able to visit your friends’ rooms or invite them to yours. A variety of new cosmetic items will be available to beautify your room.
