Today there was a live stream from Japan showcasing the gameplay of Monster Hunter World. It provides insight into a quest that features a spectacular hunt – both in a group and solo. The vibrant world, interacting with itself, will clearly be the centerpiece.
Monster Hunter World will be spectacular and brimming with interactions. Capcom has focused on the core of the Monster Hunter franchise and has impressively crafted the vibrant world.
In the stream, the producers of Monster Hunter World introduced themselves officially. The creator of the series Kaname Fujioka returns to the game and will take on the role of lead art director. Capcom has already confirmed that Monster Hunter World is a main title that is essentially “Monster Hunter 5”.
In the stream, the developers explained that they chose the name “World” because it is a completely dynamic game with a living world.

Monster Hunter World: Gameplay Video – Monsters also eat each other
The stream focused on the gameplay of Monster Hunter World, and we follow a player embarking on a quest. Naturally, he is hunting a dangerous monster.
The monsters also pose a danger to themselves. The food chain is observed, and a larger monster can easily eat what the player intended to hunt for horns, bones, or scales. It’s possible to use the environment to take down the monsters. Everything seems to react to each other. The environment consists of the “Monster Hunter”-typical jungle, featuring deep caves and grottos.
During the quest, a few other players join in midway and help with the fight.
What does the gameplay stream reveal to us?
- Monster Hunter World will take place in a highly dynamic world where everything interacts with one another.
- Monster Hunter World has a realistic ecosystem. Monsters adhere to the food chain and eat each other.
- Monsters react “intelligently” and can, for instance, run away or chase the player. This allows for setting traps.
- It is possible to use the environment to defeat monsters. An example shown was an exploding barrel that destroys a dam and sweeps the monster away with the player.
- There will be “Scout Flies” to track monsters.
- There is drop-in multiplayer. Other players can join the first player in the middle of a quest.
- There are different weapon types. The gameplay stream featured: a large sword, a bow, a rifle, and a hammer.

It was also mentioned that PlayStation Plus is necessary if you want to play online.
Leya says: The stream unfortunately had poor quality, yet I was captivated while watching. The gameplay showcased exactly what I love about Monster Hunter: Epic, long battles with clever monsters that react to their surroundings.
The world seems, as usual, to be designed with great attention to detail. It is possible to interact with everything and devise a plan to take down the monsters. I felt the essence of classic Monster Hunter.
The gameplay stream was promising and leaves me with eager anticipation.
