If you are in a group while playing Monster Hunter World, you can quickly become a nightmare for your hunting companions. Here you will find a list of things to avoid if you don’t want to be kicked from the group.
Monster Hunter World is a lot of fun when you hunt together in a group. Defeating a powerful monster together and then celebrating the victory together is one of the best experiences in this action RPG.
Unfortunately, the hunters can quickly become the worst enemy of the group and cost everyone involved the victory. Often, these hunters don’t even realize how they are hindering their group, being merely inattentive or ignorant.
The following things should be avoided when you are playing in a group and don’t want to take away your companions’ last nerve and victory.

Forgetting to heal yourself
The monsters do not have a health bar, and you must recognize by their behavior whether they are weakened. As a hunter, you have a health bar that you should constantly keep an eye on. In Monster Hunter World, there is no classic role distribution, and you cannot expect a healer to keep you alive.
If you never keep yourself alive with various healing potions, you can quickly cause the entire mission to fail. Remember that you share only 3 deaths with your team, and when these are used up, the mission is considered failed for everyone.
In case of doubt, it is always better to withdraw briefly and take a potion. If your healing items are depleted, you can also quickly return to camp and restock there. The 5 extra minutes you take for that are still better than ruining the entire mission. Especially handy is also the life powder, as it heals both you and the team directly.
It is also advisable to increase your health bar with nutrients and food from the canteen.

Forgetting about friendly fire and disturbing other hunters
In Monster Hunter World, there is a friendly fire mechanic. You don’t inflict direct damage on other hunters, but you can interrupt their actions. If you hit another hunter with your weapon, he will stumble.
This sometimes leads to bow players shooting at the monster and not paying attention to the hunting companions that are in the line of fire. The melee fighters at the monster suddenly can’t attack anymore because they are being shot at by the bow player and keep stumbling.
Melee fighters can also be problematic if they crowd too closely together. Suddenly, the hunter with the great sword takes a wide swing and directly takes his group down with him.
In the worst case, the hunters are hindered so much that they get killed by a monster because they could not react due to stumbling. Always pay attention to your positioning! Melee fighters should try to keep some distance from each other. Ranged fighters must observe who or what they actually have in front of them.
There are even trolls who shamelessly exploit friendly fire to ruin the hunt for other players. – This is guaranteed to make you no friends in hunting monsters.

Never use an item that helps the entire group
There are some consumable items in Monster Hunter World that can do something good for the entire group. Dung pods drive away monsters like the Bazelgeuse, who likes to interfere in every battle. Hunters can throw various powders into the air that have a positive effect on the entire group. Tranquilizer bombs are urgently needed, when a monster is to be captured.
It is enough to use something like a flash pod at least once to make the fight more pleasant for everyone.

For melee fighters: Attacking the wrong side of the monster
In Monster Hunter World, there are two types of attacks in melee that are differently effective against certain body parts:
- Blunt attacks – If you deal enough damage to the head, the monster will be stunned for a short time. Blunt attacks include attacks with a hammer or strikes with a shield.
- Severing attacks – You can sever the tails of certain monsters by dealing enough damage with severing attacks. Severing attacks include those with weapons that have blades, as well as thrust attacks with lances.
If someone is hacking at the monster’s head with dual blades, he can greatly disturb the hunter with the hammer, as his attacks are slower.
You should always keep the damage type of your weapon in mind and position yourself at the right spots of the monster. It’s also advisable to have at least looked at all the weapons once.

Using flash pods when a hunter is riding the monster
Usually, it is good to use flash pods against a monster. This confuses and blinds it, making it easy for you to attack. However, if a hunter is riding a monster, you should not use flash pods.
If a hunter is riding the monster, there is a high chance that he will bring the monster down. This will also prevent the creature from attacking for a while. This effect lasts a good bit longer than with a flash pod.
It’s better to wait until the riding process is complete. If the rider didn’t manage to bring the monster down, you can still use your flash pod. You can also use the time while another hunter is on the monster to “refresh” yourself. Sharpen your weapon, take a potion or prepare your next attack.
