In Monster Hunter World, the tempered monsters are getting an upgrade. Battle-tempered (Arch-Tempered) monsters are even stronger variants from which you can craft the new Gamma armors.
What are battle-tempered monsters? These monsters have a metallic sheen and an unmatched ferocity. They are said to be significantly stronger than the regular tempered monsters and pose a new challenge for endgame players.
When do the battle-tempered monsters appear? On June 8, the battle-tempered Kirin will appear in Monster Hunter World and will disappear again on June 21. This means the monsters will come with limited-time event quests. After Kirin, Vaal Hazak will be next. We can expect more event quests featuring battle-tempered Elder Dragons to follow.
The first quests with battle-tempered monsters
You will find these monsters in the event quests at the quest counter as soon as they are available to you. Battle-tempered monsters have a new color around their monster symbol. For regular tempered monsters, it is approximately purple.

New High-Rank Gamma Armors: The γ-Sets
The stronger monsters also drop stronger gear. When you complete event quests with battle-tempered monsters, you will receive materials for a new form of high-rank armor.
The Gamma armors are said to have new abilities, although nothing further is known yet. The likelihood is high that these armors have a fundamentally higher defense value.

Are battle-tempered monsters the G-Rank?
Probably not. The battle-tempered species seems to be something new in the Monster Hunter universe. G-Rank monsters are a significant increase and have always come with a new game, the Ultimate version. This is also the case for Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate which is soon coming to the Nintendo Switch. The armors obtained from G-Rank monsters were also titled with “X” or “Z” in earlier parts.
The battle-tempered monsters appear with event rotations in Monster Hunter World. Capcom also notes that the indicated availability periods for the quests may shift. Additionally, they plan to bring more decorative armors into the game.
