For Monster Hunter World: Iceborne, a new update has been announced. This is set to bring us two new monsters, including a completely new dragon that many in the community believe they have already recognized.
This monster is about: Capcom announced two monsters as part of the latest update for Iceborne. One of them is a subspecies of the Zinogre. However, the second is a completely unknown dragon, of which only a brief snippet was shown.
As no further details are known yet, there is much speculation in the community. Which dragon will join the monster set of Iceborne?
The community is having a heated discussion
What do the players say? Especially under the Twitter post from Monster Hunter about the new dragon, the community is divided. Players have different ideas and wishes for which beast should come next week.
The most prevalent wish is for a new “Black Dragon” or a subspecies of the “Xeno’jiiva”, the last opponent from the base game. A lot of wild discussions and speculations are happening, with some even arguing.

What can be seen in the video? Here you can see a precise comparison between the unknown dragon and Xeno’jiiva. The art book allegedly mentions that its skin would darken with age, which is supposed to complete the image. However, many players argue against this and see no resemblance between the two monsters.

Will there be a new “Black Dragon“?
Alongside Xeno’jiiva, Fatalis is also highly favored in the community. He is a monster with several subspecies. In the original, he belongs to the “Black Dragons”, which some players wish to see return in Monster Hunter World.
I hope it’s a new “Black Dragon”.

What are “Black Dragons“ in Monster Hunter? The so-called “Black Dragons” are known from earlier parts of the Monster Hunter franchise. They are, as the name suggests, pitch-black dragon monsters.
The most famous representatives are Fatalis and Alatreon. The “Black Dragons” are considered part of the “Dangerous First-Class Monsters”.
What are the “Dangerous First-Class Monsters“? This group of monsters is supposed to be even stronger than the Elder Dragons we know from Monster Hunter World. Each beast exhibits the following characteristics:
- Even Elder Dragons fear them
- A “Black Dragon” or a subspecies of it
- Surrounded by an unnatural aura
- According to myths and legends, they do not exist
Could it also be a siege monster? Ultimately, we just have to wait and see which monster finds its way into the game. It is also not known whether the new dragon will be a siege monster like Kulve-Taroth.
In such a siege, up to four teams of four players each can participate. They share the progress, and in the end, everyone receives rewards, even if their team has not defeated the monster themselves.
