After 2 months, the top spot in the Xbox store changes. In the paid games category, PUBG must vacate its premier position after 2 months. New winner: Monster Hunter World. Xbox One players were not even granted a beta.
As mentioned in a forum post on Resetera, Monster Hunter World has taken the lead in the “Top Paid” games on Xbox. This means that the monster hunter has broken the dominance of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds after 2 months. It was released in December on Xbox One in an Early Access.
Especially interesting: Monster Hunter World digital currently holds the second place on the list as well.

Xbox One looked like an unwanted stepchild
It is highlighted in the comments as particularly unusual because there were concerns that Monster Hunter World might not sell as well on the Xbox One as on the competing platform PlayStation 4.
After all, there weren’t even beta tests. Xbox One players felt like the unwanted stepchild in the weeks leading up to the release.
While PlayStation received three beta tests and was provided with exclusive content, Xbox players had to buy the game more or less blind. Additionally, there were some issues with multiplayer functions on Xbox One at launch. This contributed to Xbox players feeling disadvantaged. A patch has since resolved that issue.

But the frustration seems to have subsided. Forum members celebrate Monster Hunter World’s success and are happy that the Xbox One has such a vibrant community. Especially, they praise Monster Hunter World for feeling like a finished game and for being free of loot boxes.
PC players will have to wait until autumn, as Monster Hunter World will also be released for their platform then.
