Today, December 10, an announcement regarding Monster Hunter World is forthcoming. Fans are excited and expressing their wishes for upcoming content.
What happened? At the Game Awards, the developers of Monster Hunter World announced news. As the official game site confirms, a live stream will start today at 3 PM. In the stream, new information is expected to be revealed.
Fans have eagerly awaited this and are already speculating about what the news might be. Many are also expressing their wishes, such as G-Rank, a new map, and new monsters.
New Information about Monster Hunter World – What Fans Want
In recent months, fans have often discussed how Monster Hunter World should continue. The battle-hardened monsters are rather unsatisfying for a large part of the community and are only rehashes of monsters that already exist in the game.
For a while now, there haven’t been any new monsters, armors, or weapons on Xbox One and PS4. Therefore, there is also a list of things that many players would wish for.
G-Rank
What does G-Rank mean? Normally, Capcom releases a base game for Monster Hunter, such as Generations. Following that, an Ultimate version is released, like Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate. In this version, G-Rank is included. G-Rank is the highest difficulty level in Monster Hunter.
The difference from the normal difficulty level:
- Monsters have more hit points
- deal more damage
- are larger
- have new movesets
- attacks vary more
Additionally, there is a load of stronger equipment.
A New Map
From the beginning, Monster Hunter World has faced criticism that the map diversity is too low. There are a total of five areas that differ greatly from one another.
However, those who are in the endgame often end up on the same map: the Home of the Elder Dragons. Even without this problem, players have grown tired of the five maps after many hours of play and are wishing for some variety.
Speculation about an Ice Map: In the past, there have often been rumors and supposed leaks about an area covered in ice and snow. In fact, this would fit. So far, in Monster Hunter World there are
- a forest/jungle
- a large desert
- the coral highlands
- the rotten vale
- the home of the elder dragons
All of these maps are not particularly cold or wintry. Therefore, an ice map would bring the necessary variety. Moreover, there is currently only Legiana as an ice monster in the game. Thus, several monsters could be introduced that focus more on the ice element.
Alleged Leaks and Speculations
These rumors persist to this day: Even before the release of Monster Hunter World, there was a leak. This leak contained a list of monsters that were either already in the game or were yet to come.
The leak was correct about monsters like Devijho, Lunastra, and possibly Kulve Taroth. However, two monsters from the leak have not yet appeared: Oroshi Kirin and Alatreon.
What is special about Oroshi Kirin? This dark subspecies of Kirin is of the ice element type. Therefore, its attacks deal ice damage as well.
What is special about Alatreon? Alatreon is an Elder Dragon that can use four element types (Fire, Ice, Dragon, Thunder).
There are also persistent rumors about Lagiacrus, which almost made it into the game.
This afternoon at 3 PM, we will know more. However, fans are already emotionally preparing for a disappointment:
- For example, there is a bingo for the live stream that includes everything from “G-Rank update/DLC announced” to “a decoration armor that nobody cares about”.
- Another fan has already prepared memes for the best case (announcement of an ice map) and for the disappointing case (announcement of the battle-hardened Nergigante) .

Monster Hunter World is getting an Expansion
Update 15:11 – this was presented: A new expansion for Monster Hunter World “Iceborne” was announced. It is supposed to arrive in autumn 2019.
Before that, there will be several updates for the game with additional “Arch-tempered” versions of the toughest monsters. Additionally, there is a crossover event planned with The Witcher, where Geralt himself will visit. Monster Hunter World will also celebrate a festival for its first anniversary: the Appreciation Event.
