In Monster Hunter Wilds, up to 100 players are supposed to be in a lobby together. MyMMO has found out how many players there really are in the new installment.
What is the deal with the lobbies? In Monster Hunter Wilds, there should be lobbies with up to 100 players, as promised by an image on the game’s website. This is an unusually large number of players for the “Monster Hunter” series, where usually only four players interact with each other.
Accordingly, users on Reddit were also confused. The image was shared there and caused uncertainties for many. However, not much will change about the known system.

100 players, but not really
Will Monster Hunter Wilds become an MMO? The 100 players in a lobby initially sound like a lot, but they are not. A lobby in Monster Hunter Wilds serves only to connect players with each other.
Even in Monster Hunter Wilds, you will continue to experience most game content with a group of four hunters. At each base camp, you will meet up to 15 other hunters with whom you can team up.
However, if you go to another base camp, you will meet new players there again. These new players at the different base camps are all in the same lobby as you. So you will not be able to hunt monsters with 99 other players.
How many players can you roam with? Despite the 100-player lobbies, Monster Hunter remains true to its known system. If you are not currently engaged in raid-like hunts such as the World’s Kulve Taroth Siege Event, you will be hunting together with three other players.
As in the other parts of the series, you can also play independently and do not have to stick together like in an MMORPG.
How can you play with your friends? If you do not end up in the same lobby as your friends, that’s not a problem. Monster Hunter Wilds offers what are called Link Parties for this purpose. Link Parties can consist of up to four players.
The players you are in one of these groups with can play with you, even if you are in different lobbies. Additionally, players from Link Parties stay together even after the completion of quests, receive a notification when someone starts a quest, and have the option to join in as well as a dedicated chat and voice chat for communication.
