At the base camp, you will receive the side quest “The Search for the Golden Fish” from Kanya as part of Chapter 4. To complete the quest, you must catch one of the mentioned fish.

Monster Hunter Wilds: The Best Locations for the Golden Fish

Here you can find Golden Fish: Golden Fish prefer calm waters in places without sunlight. Therefore, you need to find a body of water in a cave. You can find the Golden Fish in the following areas: Wind Plain, Crimson Forest, Oil Spring Basin, and Ice Shard Cliffs.

What is the best place? A location that is particularly worthwhile is the underground lake in the Crimson Forest, which you can find at number 8 on your map. Also, in area 12 right next door, there is such a body of water:

Another good location is at number 14 on the Wind Plain. There is also an underground water basin to the east.

How to Safely Catch the Golden Fish

To catch the Golden Fish, you will need either your fishing rod or the net. The rest goes very quickly, and the fish will end up in your inventory.

Good to know: By the way, Kanya gives you a special bait at the beginning of the quest, which makes it particularly easy to catch Golden Fish.
