In Monster Hunter Wilds, you will have the task of searching for the black flame or “Black Flame.” We will tell you what you need to do to find it.
Let’s get started: “The long-forgotten flame” is the 18th main mission in Monster Hunter Wilds, and it is the end of chapter 2. Here you will receive the quest “Search for the Black Flame.” MeinMMO explains how you can find the Nu Udra, the first octopus of the game series, at the end of the quest line.
How to find the black flame in Monster Hunter Wilds
Preparations: In general, it is advisable to carry plenty of healing items. We would also recommend having fire-resistant armor, as it will make your life easier.
Here’s what to do:
- Leave the base heading north and enter area no. 7.
- As soon as you enter the area, look on the ground for “partially digested food.”
- Once you examine the food, you will receive a new clue.
- After you find the clue, you can send out your scout flies to search for the beast.
- Open your map, and its name and description will appear.
- You will then find the opponent in area no. 15.
- Now you need to return to the base and report your find.
What’s next? Once you have located and reported the beast, you can start the fight. First, there will be an extensive cutscene before you start the battle against the Ajarakan.
The Ajarakan is a beast with tusks, and its main weakness is water. You won’t get far with fire attacks, and it’s helpful if you can protect yourself against fire attacks. The weak points of the Ajarakan are its arms, back, and tail.
Especially if you are playing solo and not in a team with other players, be cautious of the Ajarakan’s fire attacks and carry enough healing items. If you are somewhat prepared, the Ajarakan shouldn’t pose a major problem.
The Black Flame: After defeating the Ajarakan, you can return to Azuz. There begins the battle against Nu Udra, the Black Flame.
The Nu Udra is a tricky opponent. Be particularly careful of the lava, which will damage you if you stay too long in one place. Therefore, always keep moving. Its head, mouth, and 6 arms are the weak points.
By the way, water moss and cold drinks are handy in the fight. This gives you an advantage when fighting against opponents with fire or in hot areas.
A special attack from Nu Udra is “Fire Plague”: this is a painful attack that can easily kill your hunter. This attack only occurs when Nu Udra is burning. If you see it lowering its head, get moving and ideally go behind the beast.
