Sneaky Attacks
Those who like to sneak will have a great time here. If you approach a monster from behind without being noticed, you can execute a sneaky attack by pressing the displayed button and deal significant damage to its backside.
For those who like to make things explode, there’s also the option to place a barrel bomb and use it as a sneaky attack. To initiate a sneaky attack, you just need to manage to approach the monster unnoticed – sneaking is not necessary, but it helps. The Ghillie Mantle can also assist in this endeavor.
Perfect Defense
Many weapons in Monster Hunter Wilds offer the opportunity to block or dodge at the last second. If you manage this, for example, you can counter with enhanced attacks or receive a buff.
With some weapons, this can also trigger a short 1:1 duel, allowing you to deal additional damage to the monster. These maneuvers not only look extremely cool but also significantly increase your inflicted damage, so you should definitely weave them into your moves.
New Movement Option in Combat
Another innovation that affects your combat is that you can now move in any direction without losing your focus. With some weapons, it’s now possible to continue attacking straight while repositioning yourself in any direction without your character turning and attacking from another direction.
This has the major advantage that you can move more freely and it becomes easier to aim at specific body parts of the monster. Additionally, you can move during combos and are not locked into a moveset, making combat smoother.
It may sound complicated at first, but it basically means: You look straight ahead, strike or shoot straight ahead, but move like a crab forward, left, right, and backward. Diagonal is also possible. However you need it.
Buried Treasures
Some monsters not only stir up dust during battles but also disturb the terrain. Sometimes they dig so much that small treasures come to light. You can collect these sparkling items and sell or use them.
