Monster Hunter Online looks absolutely stunning, but now the developers have added an HD patch – is it worth it?
Increase the game size by nearly 50%
The online spin-off of Monster Hunter is quite a graphical spectacle, as it is based on the already powerful CryEngine 3. However, it seems that the developers at Tencent Games were not satisfied with this, as they have now released an optional patch that can significantly enhance the graphics.
The main change involves replacing the textures with even higher resolution HD textures, which significantly increase the level of detail in many areas. Steparu has tried this patch directly and published a video of it.
Whether the proud 10 GB, which inflate the game’s total size to 33 GB, is really worth it will probably be a decision everyone has to make for themselves.
Monster Hunter Online is currently only available in Chinese and there are no plans to release the game in other regions yet. However, since there is no IP restriction, some fans are already working on a patch to allow English-speaking players to enjoy the title.
