What is Monster Hunter Now? Monster Hunter Now is a new mobile game from the Pokémon GO makers Niantic and Capcom. In the game, you move as a hunter through your neighborhood, fight monsters, and upgrade your equipment.
Always by your side is a Palico, which accompanies you through the game and explains your first steps. You will quickly learn how to fight monsters and interact with your surroundings.
However, right in the main menu, there is also an item that is not usable from the beginning: the color ball. What is that?
What is the color ball in Monster Hunter Now?
This is what the color ball can do: You can use the pink color balls to mark monsters you encounter. When you do this, they land in your list of marked monsters, which you can hunt at a later time. This is useful, for example, when you find an exciting monster but can’t fight it right now.
Then you use the color ball, mark the monster, and fight it when you are relaxed at home again.
There is also a variant, the blue Palico color ball.
What can the Palico color ball do? Your Palico companion uses it when you have activated the adventure synchronization of Monster Hunter Now. It works basically the same as adventure sync in Pokémon GO: the game registers your movements even when it is not actively played or opened.
Your Palico companion can automatically mark monsters when they are nearby with adventure synchronization activated. So, for example, if you have been on a walk and then open the game, you may find monsters in your list that your Palico has marked. You can now fight them one by one.
You can currently have up to 3 Palico color balls.
How do I get the color ball?
This is how you get the color ball: First, you have to reach Hunter Rank 5. You achieve that by completing a few quests at the beginning of the game. This doesn’t take long. Just follow the tutorial, and you should quickly reach the fifth rank.
After that, you can get the color balls in the following ways:
- Every day, the blue Palico color balls are automatically replenished. However, you can’t get more than three currently.
- You can buy additional blue color balls that you can use manually in the in-game shop.
- In addition, you also receive blue color balls as a reward for certain Hunter ranks.
Accordingly, it is worth continuing to level up and collect color balls so that you can mark exciting monsters.
Monster Hunter Now is a new game from Niantic that has not yet been able to duplicate the huge success of Pokémon GO. In June Niantic discontinued two games, one of which was already released and the other was in development. Other games, such as Pikmin Bloom or Peridot, continue to run.
