Monster Hunter Generations is coming as an Ultimate version for the Nintendo Switch. The release date is set for August 28, 2018.
Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate, also known as Monster Hunter XX, will be released exclusively on the Nintendo console. This marks a full-fledged Monster Hunter title making its series debut on the Switch. The action RPG will be available both digitally and in retail as a box.
Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate supports online multiplayer
For the first time, players have the opportunity to seamlessly switch between a large TV screen and handheld mode with the Switch. This can be done alone, in a local network, as well as in the online multiplayer mode with up to three other hunters.
Here’s what to expect in the game: Hunters can expect the largest collection of unique monsters ever seen in this title. There are over 80 large creatures in total. As brave hunters, players set out to confront these oversized monsters.
They complete hunting quests and collect valuable remains from defeated foes to craft countless weapons and gear. Gradually, players must protect four villages and defend against the Fatal Four as well as an even more dangerous elder dragon.
Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate features G-Rank
Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate offers classic gameplay with unique new twists. New areas and monsters, as well as fan favorites like the lightning-fast Zinogre and the stealthy Nargacuga.
Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate also includes the new quest level “G-Rank”, where players encounter even stronger monster variants. This puts the combat tactics and skills of the hunters to the test with new moves and abilities.

There are 6 hunting techniques, including 2 new ones – these have touchscreen support
The gameplay offers a plethora of powerful super moves, called hunting techniques, which are executed with a quick tap on the touchscreen. Players can choose from six different hunting styles. Monster Hunter players can easily experiment with the various hunting styles to customize their combat experience to their preferences.
The 6 hunting styles and what they do:
- Bravery – New: rewards with new moves for successful attacks
- Alchemy Style – New: support items can be quickly crafted in battle
- Guild Style: classic Monster Hunter gameplay
- Aerial Style: allows attacks from the air
- Striker Style: three instead of two hunting techniques can be used
- Counter Style: faster attacks and counters
Game saves can be transferred from the Nintendo 3DS
Game saves from the original Monster Hunter Generations can be transferred to continue the monster hunting in Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate . Players who already played the action RPG on the Nintendo 3DS can import their Monster Hunter Generations save to the Switch.
