With mods, you can bring new content to Valheim that wouldn’t otherwise exist in the survival game. You can even turn Valheim into a completely new game – like a role-playing game. MeinMMO presents 3 mods that give you loot, classes, and even quests.
What are these mods? The three mods we present here bring new content to the game. With them, you can explore different new aspects in Valheim that normally don’t exist and transform the survival game into a role-playing game. There are:
- Loot and boss weapons like in Dark Souls
- Quests like in Skyrim or World of Warcraft
- Classes like in Diablo
You can install the mods individually or together. We recommend installing them together – that way you get the full RPG feel and can explore Valheim in a whole new way.
How do I install the mods? You can get all the mods through the NexusMods website (via NexusMods). There, you will also find the Vortex client, a downloader from the website that makes installing mods easier.
We recommend using Vortex. In our guide, you will find in detail how to install mods in Valheim and which are the best. However, please note that Valheim does not officially support mods yet, so it’s best to create a backup of your game first.
Unique Weapons for unique boss loot
What does the mod do? Unique Weapons brings nine new weapons into the game, all of which you can obtain as recipes from the currently five bosses. Each boss comes with at least one unique weapon.
The special thing about the new weapons is that they have different attacks than the standard weapons. Some of them even have unique abilities or belong to a completely new weapon type.
With the mod from Modern, you get two dragon skulls that you can use as gauntlets. As a special effect, you gain frost resistance when you carry the main hand weapon. The weapons could even replace the best weapons in Valheim with their abilities.

OdinPlus for quests and companions
What does the mod do? With OdinPlus, the god Odin, who usually only watches you, gets his own place in the world. He stands in a camp with several other NPCs, and you can there
- buy new mead with special effects that cannot be obtained through fermentation
- accept and hand in quests
- level skills selectively
The mod implements a proper quest system, but also more powerful monsters that you have to hunt for it. Additionally, it allows you to summon new companions, like a wolf with a backpack or a controllable troll.

Quest items can also be found in the world’s dungeons, and the treasures you can dig up will be more valuable with the mod.

- Berserker with Frenzy, Executions, and Charge
- Wizard with Fireball, Frost Nova, and Meteor
- Druid with Regeneration, Root Defender, and Vines

In addition, there are five new skills that expand the existing attributes and improve through the use of corresponding abilities.

Bonus: HD mod and music from Final Fantasy
What are these mods? With two additional mods, you can further enhance the RPG feel. Coco’s Texture Pack is an HD mod that allows you to replace the retro pixel graphics of Valheim with better-resolved textures.
Midgar-Valheim Alliance adds the soundtrack and sound effects from Final Fantasy 7 to the game, one of the most popular installments in the famous series.
Where do I get the mods?
The two mods are not necessary to turn Valheim into a role-playing game but enhance the appearance and overall experience of Valheim. However, you don’t need mods if you just want to make Valheim prettier. The game itself already offers the possibility to make more out of its visuals:
