It is no secret that mods generally make Bethesda’s games even better. However, due to the recent next-gen update, many mods no longer work. The community didn’t take long to find a solution for this.
What is the problem? Since April 25th, the next-gen update for Fallout 4 has gone live. Bethesda has incorporated further improvements nine years after the release, making the game look better.
Unfortunately, there is a major issue. Most community mods no longer work due to the update. This is causing a lot of frustration among players who previously had to use cumbersome ways to bypass the update.
But the mod community is not idle and it didn’t take long for a convenient solution for the problem to appear.
The answer to broken mods is more mods
What is the solution? It is ironic that fans once again have to come to the rescue themselves. Some say that Bethesda’s games only become playable through mods. In this case, it’s true again.
Mods have now emerged that remove Bethesda’s new update. This cannot simply be done through Steam and co., but requires help from the community.
At Nexus Mods, the go-to mod portal, the two most popular and frequently downloaded files revolve around the current problem. One of them is called “Steam-Skip Next Gen-Update”. This mod makes Steam think that the update has already been installed.
A second extension called “Fallout 4 Downgrader” resets the game to the previous version should the update have already been downloaded.
What’s next? Since the release of the Fallout series by Amazon, the entire series has experienced a significant resurgence. All offshoots have been played more and are more popular than ever before.
The mod community has improved Fallout 4 over the years and equipped it with cool and creative extensions. Therefore, the frustration over the sudden incompatibility is understandable.
On the other hand, it would be nearly impossible for Bethesda to ensure compatibility with all available mods before the update. It remains to be seen how the studio will handle the situation.
