Fans of Baldur’s Gate 3 were looking forward to the official minis, to use them as decoration or as figures for their own tabletop games. However, they seem to have more the quality of a toy from a McDonald’s Happy Meal.
Which figures are involved? The minis are part of the “Icons of the Realm” boxed set with 7 figures from the US company WizKids. Included are the characters Wyll, Karlach, Gale, Lae’zael, Shadowheart, Astarion, and Withers. They are officially licensed by Wizards of the Coast and cost $49.99 or €44.52 (via WizKids).
On X.com, some fans are now sharing their disappointment with the quality of the set. The figures do not meet expectations or the advertised template. Therefore, we have asked both WizKids and Wizards of the Coast for a statement. We will update the article as soon as we receive it.
“Modify the game to make them look like this”
What’s wrong with the figures? As user @HighLODLar shares in her post on X.com, the delivered figures look completely different than the advertising template. The colors are poorly applied, and the body shapes look severely deformed in parts, suggesting a production error.

However, she is not alone in this, as several fans in the comments express similar sentiments. For example, @MrSwagBallz reports that his Shadowheart was even delivered without a head (via x.com). Many users also share images of their deformed minis and vent their disappointment.

One would have simply expected more. Especially due to the images with which WizKids promotes the set, better quality was anticipated (see @Wizkidsgames via x.com). Many fans have therefore requested a refund.
What do the fans say about it? In the comments, the community expresses anger and disappointment, although some take it humorously:
- @donkmykong writes: “Yes, they are not great … My Gale looks finished.”
- @CherubimBoy comments: “McDonald’s Happy Meal toy merchandise.”
- @moonronic jokes: “I disagree, they are priceless.”
- @linzer_art notes: “I cry. Shadowheart looks like those butchered fresco restorations on chapel walls.”
- @TheGoldStream challenges: “Modify the game to make them look like this.”
According to user @chrismp59, some figures, however, seem to have turned out better, as he claims his versions turned out better. Whether this is a production error is currently unclear.
