PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PC, Xbox One) is also available as a mobile game for Android smartphones and tablets. The mobile version is now available in the West, but currently only in one country, which is very far to the west, in Canada.
PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) has been released as an officially licensed mobile version by the Chinese gaming giant Tencent. Tencent also markets the original PUBG in China and initially offered the mobile version only in Asia.
According to Tencent, there have already been over 75 million pre-registrations between the PC and mobile versions.
By now, PUBG Mobile is already available in one Western country.
Canada has PUBG Mobile
Anyone living in Canada with an Android phone can download PUBG Mobile from the Google Play Store and play it. This comes as somewhat of a surprise, as Tencent had not announced anything about a Western release before.
Therefore, it is also not known if and when the game will be released in other Western countries besides Canada. Whether it will stay on Android or also come to Apple’s iOS is also unclear.
So if someone doesn’t want to awkwardly change their Android phone’s region, they probably have to hope that the competitive pressure from the upcoming mobile Fortnite favors the further localization of PUBG Mobile.
