The Asian martial arts MMO Age of Wushu is set in ancient China and places great emphasis on the appropriate ambiance and atmosphere. Therefore, weddings there are somewhat different than in Western MMOs.
Age of Wushu – First Set Up a Match, Then Get Married!
In order to get married in Age of Wushu, you first need to visit a marriage broker. He will then provide you with a list of willing brides that match your preferences. Additionally, you are only allowed to choose your wife as a man.
Female players can only register with the broker and must then passively wait until a man “discovers” and selects them. However, they receive a handsome dowry from the groom if they agree to the marriage. Same-sex relationships are not allowed in this strict system.
Wedding with Palanquin and Fireworks
Those who enter into such an arranged marriage will, however, enjoy the full program. As in ancient China, a ceremony is first held where the couple bows before the gods and their relatives.
Next follows a grand wedding parade in which the bride is carried through the streets in a huge palanquin carried by 28 people. The groom rides ahead on a noble steed. Both spouses wear splendid red wedding garments.
Accompanying all this is a spectacular fireworks display. The wedding celebration later concludes with a splendid banquet and a night at the inn. You can also dissolve the marriage later if you find it unsatisfactory.
