The mix of strategy game and MMORPG Kingdom Under Fire 2 (KuF 2) received its last update almost exactly a year ago. What has become of the game that was so strong on Steam in 2019?
What is the status of KuF 2? The last update for probably the most expensive MMORPG in Korea was released on March 24, 2020. Since then, it has been very quiet around Kingdom Under Fire 2. There have only been some maintenance works. In August 2020, the community manager also left the company.
Furthermore, Steamcharts shows that the number of players over the past 30 days was only 19.9 simultaneously active users. During this period, the peak was 43 players. The trend on Steamcharts is also steadily declining. Only in the last 30 days has there been a slight increase.
Meanwhile, the MMORPG launched strongly on Steam in November 2019 with over 1,200 simultaneous players, which even increased to almost 1,900 simultaneous players in February 2020. A success seemed to be on the way. But from March 2020 onwards, it went downhill.

What did the publisher say in October about the status of the MMORPG? The community of KuF 2 has long been wondering what will happen to the game. Therefore, we spoke in October last year with the PR agency that takes care of the game and the publisher Gameforge.
At that time, it was said that the developers have internal problems and the development of KuF 2 is progressing slower than planned. The Corona pandemic was also mentioned as a reason. Kingdom Under Fire 2 has not benefited from the crisis, unlike other MMORPGs such as TERA. According to Gameforge, there are no plans to discontinue the game. However, for new content, they are currently focusing on other titles in the portfolio.
The situation has not changed to this day. There are still no updates for KuF 2, which continues to cause player numbers to decline. If nothing changes and no new updates are released that bring additional content, then the end of the MMORPG could soon be imminent. With fewer and fewer active players, it certainly does not make sense to maintain the servers for much longer.
