The MMORPG Astellia is going online again soon and changing its name to Astel of Atra. There are also many changes in content: The game now focuses on blockchain and cryptocurrency.
Astellia was a Buy2Play MMORPG by Nexon, which launched on Steam in 2020. In early 2021, Astellia Royal, a Free2Play version of the game, was released. When it was not well received and player numbers continued to decline, the MMORPG was discontinued.
Now the new publisher GELIXIR Studios, together with Studio8, has taken over the MMORPG. On their website, they currently advertise rewards for pre-registration. They also explain there that you can earn currency in Astel of Atra and exchange it for cryptocurrency.
Everything revolves around a specific currency
What kind of game is this? Astel of Atra takes over the classic MMORPG world of its predecessor and adds elements that significantly shape the gameplay. You farm a currency called Chander, which you can obtain through ores or dungeons, to exchange it for in-game content, NFTs, or cryptocurrency.
However, to receive the currency, you must first invest money and buy the Astel NFT. The price of this is still unknown, but the purchase button is already available.
As for the gameplay itself, we know only a few things:
- The combat system is supposed to work through playing cards
- There are crafting and life skills
- You can acquire mounts through Chander
- You can choose from 5 different classes: Warrior, Mage, Archer, Sage, and Assassin
Currently, the new publishers are not revealing anything about the story and the game world. The focus of Astel of Atra is clearly on cryptocurrency. It could develop like the well-known Play2Earn MMORPG MIR4, where many bots are roaming.
When will Astel of Atra be released? According to the official roadmap, the global release was supposed to take place in the third quarter of 2022. However, now that pre-registration is open, the MMORPG shouldn’t take too long to release.
