The MMORPG TERA (PC, PS4, Xbox One) is still successful and aims to arrive in 2020. For this, it will be equipped with a 64-bit client. But what does that even bring?
What improvements does TERA get? With a new update, the client of the MMORPG will be improved from 32-bit to 64-bit. This has several implications for the MMORPG and also for the gaming experience. One could say that TERA arrives with the update in 2020.
What are these improvements? A 32-bit client only allows up to 4 GB of RAM to be used. However, this has implications for large games like MMORPGs. In TERA, for example, this has led to the dreaded “RAM Client Crashes” where the game simply crashed. With 64-bit it is possible to access more than 4 GB of RAM, which should prevent the crashes.
Moreover, the client update also brings the following:
- By using DirectX 11, the rendering of graphics runs over multiple CPU cores, which increases the performance and stability of the game.
- The new feature “asynchronous loading” leads to different elements of the MMORPG being loaded independently. This means that calling up the inventory no longer brings a brief stutter.
- It is possible to display more players and effects simultaneously.
For TERA, you will soon need a better PC
How do the system requirements change with the new client? The switch to 64-bit has several implications:
- You will need Windows 10 64-bit.
- At least an Intel i5 7500 or AMD Ryzen 7-1700 processor is required.
- You will need at least a GeForce GTX 970 or Radeon RX 380.
- TERA requires 12 GB of RAM.
- DirectX 11 is required.
- Disk space is 80 GB.
What impact does the new client have on gameplay? Besides better stability and performance, the most important aspect is the ability to display more players simultaneously.
Therefore, with the update, a new raid is also starting, designed for 20 players, which should once again enrich the endgame. This gaming experience should run significantly smoother and more stable than was the case with previous raids.
In the future, further content may follow that many players can participate in simultaneously.
What is the status of the update? As of today, Friday, July 24, it is possible to try out the update on the test server “Atmorph”. The testing goes on until July 28. At an unspecified time after this test, the patch will then be deployed on the regular servers. This is expected to happen in early August.
The MMORPG TERA is still successful and unlike other online role-playing games, it focuses on PvE content. If you are interested in PvE, you should take a look at TERA.
