The new MMORPG Swords of Legends Online receives its first major content update and brings so much content that it could also be considered an expansion. We at MeinMMO explain for whom returning to the MMORPG is worthwhile.
What kind of update is this? Today, November 18th, the big update 1.1 for the MMORPG Swords of Legends Online is released. It is titled “The Forbidden Court” and delivers many new contents that specifically target endgame players.
The update not only continues the story but also promises new raids that are expected to be released later this year, but it also brings new PvP instances and makes dungeons more relevant.
What’s included:
- New story chapter “Villa of the Fox Fairy,” which you receive as soon as you have completed the quest “To the Temple of the Devastator”
- Three new biographies
- Two new maps with their own mechanics
- The “Memory Box,” which allows you to replay old dungeons with new rewards
- Two additional raids that will be unlocked on November 25th and December 9th
- 4 new PvP modes
- Alliances between guilds
- Factions for guilds and alliances
- PvP mode for alliance wars
- New items for character, crafting, and housing
- Balance adjustments

Battles take place in the new areas
What’s in the Flower Palace? The Flower Palace is one of the two new zones. You can enter it via the world map and other teleport paths, and it is aimed at players who have reached the endgame. The new story will also take place in the Flower Palace.
The new area serves as a hub for future content. New daily quests, PvP battle frenzy, and the two new raids are expected to be accessible through the Flower Palace. A new world boss will also roam the area.
In addition to the new people of the spirit foxes, the Flower Palace also offers the two new materials White Obsidian and Firestorm Stones, which you will need for crafting, among other things.
What’s in the fifty islands of Chuyun? The fifty islands of Chuyun is the second new map, which focuses entirely on PvP. Every weekend, large battles occur on the islands of Chuyun between the various alliances.
During the week, members of the alliances can collect materials on the map that are needed for these battles. This is done through the daily quest “Ice Crystal.” Accepting this quest costs money, but you will receive it back upon completion.
However, you must be cautious, as the faction PvP mode is activated throughout the entire zone. So, you must expect an attack from another player at any time. To receive rewards, you must belong to the same faction as your alliance. Otherwise, you will not receive anything.
Old dungeons with new rewards
How does the Memory Box work? With the new feature, you can replay the first 5 dungeons of the game, with better rewards. However, this does not come for free and is also more complicated in its functionality than necessary, resembling the Strike Missions from Guild Wars 2.
To replay these dungeons, you need dusty training memories. You must buy these through the Book of Mysteries and then add them to your Memory Box.
The dungeons are currently available in 5 different new difficulty and reward levels, ranging from item level 85 to item level 105. However, you cannot jump directly to the highest level but must first play the other four levels of the dungeon to unlock the respective higher one.
What does it bring? If you play the memories, you will receive a reward for each completed dungeon. The higher the memory, the greater the rewards and the more gold you earn at the end.
At the end of each week, you will also receive a reward chest that is based on the level of the highest completed dungeon, so a maximum of item level 105.
Your alliance will soon have a floating island
What can alliances do now? In alliances, several guilds can unite and play together. They can form alliances with other alliances and guilds but can also fight against each other in feuds and wars.
Feuds and wars primarily differ in that feuds are free and must be confirmed by both participating alliances, while wars always cost money but do not require confirmation from the other side.
Alliances belong to factions: The leader of an alliance can decide whether their alliance wants to remain neutral or join one of the two factions. If you choose one of the factions, then only members of the same faction as your alliance can join.
What’s in “Battle in the Sea of Clouds”? In the weekly battle in the Sea of Clouds, two alliances and their allies face off against each other. They fight in 60vs60 battles to capture several small islands. One side defends while the other attacks.
The battle lasts for an hour and takes place once a week; the winners will receive handsome rewards but also costs. If you win the islands, you will have to pay maintenance costs to reap all benefits.
These costs amount to 200,000 water, cloud, and wind essences each, which can be farmed on the fifty islands of Chuyun. If you cannot pay this price, your alliance will lose control of the island.
For whom does the return pay off?
Is it worth starting now? SOLO still offers a solid start and beautiful class selection. One of the main criticisms of the MMORPG has been that there has been a lack of content in the endgame. This may have improved now.
However, the player numbers of SOLO have dropped significantly over the last few months, and a large portion of active players should have already reached the endgame. Therefore, starting is only worthwhile if you can cope with being relatively alone until reaching the endgame.
Is it worth it for returnees? The new update “The Forbidden Court” is aimed almost entirely at players who are at the endgame and do not have much to do anymore. However, this has changed due to more story, harder dungeons, and new endgame areas.
There are also many new contents for PvP fans that have the potential to be fun in the long term. With the two new raids following on November 27th and December 9th, there is also new content available for PvE fans.
If you are one of those people who stopped playing Swords of Legends Online just because there was too little to do, then returning now is definitely worthwhile.
